Summary: Hey, I used to have a Dyson but it spent most of its life going back and forth to New York for repairs! This is a very good unit and we like the fold-up handle and the retractable cord. Also like the on / off feature on the rotating brush. Good value!
Summary: Got new thick plush carpeting. This vacuum said it would handle but not only did not but left lines where the brush almost tore into the carpeting. Complicated assembly and disassembly to return.
Good at first, then you realize it was designed by committee.

Summary: At first I thought this vacuum was pretty good. I've had it almost two years now and have felt since about month two that it was a waste of money. Pros: Suction. Not bad. But doesn't outweigh the rest. Cons: The lever you're supposed to press to stop the brush when you're on a hard floor or using the attachments works sometimes, mostly not. If it does, the brush starts turning again after about a minute, beating the heck out of one spot on the floor.
Summary: I have had my Hoover Windtunnel for about 4 months and hate it! The long hose that the debris flows through keeps getting clogged and instead of picking up dirt from bare floors, it "deposits" some of the dirt from the hose onto the floor. It works fine on the carpet settings. When I emptied the canister for the first time, I was astonished at the HUGE plume of dust that flew up out of the trash can.
Summary: I had the same Bissell upright for about 8 years. It did the job, and I never understood the fancy cyclonic vacuums. I regularly replaced the bag, and I had no issues with it. I also regularly either get my carpets professionally cleaned or rent a Rug Doctor/do-it-yourself machine. So I purchased this vacuum, and while I was expecting an improvement, I wasn't expecting to be floored (pun intended).
