Summary: This vacuum is beautiful and lightweight. Because it's so light, I wondered if it could clean well, but it did, and it was very maneuverable. I was very pleased. Then, a few months later it became hard to push across my developer-grade carpeting (so about as thin as it can get and still be called...
Summary: I was most disappointed by this vacuum. My old Hoover canister vacuum broke and I was hoping this might be a good replacement as the new canister model is very cheaply designed. The suction on the upright worked well on carpeting, but it just gobbled my area rugs.
Pros: upright had good suction
Cons: mobile canister had poor suction, mobile canister had tiny bag, attachments fell off
Summary: Nice that it adjusts from carpet to hard floor all by itself, but watch out if you have area rugs. Since there is no manual floor height adjustment, I find it grabs the edges no matter how fast I try to go over them and chews up my area rugs even on the low setting.
Summary: I purchased this vacuum after reading the great reviews. When I used it for the first time, I realized that it would not vacuum high pile carpet. It just stopped running when on my carpet. According to Hoover customer service, it is not made to vacuum high pile or shag carpet.
Summary: We bought the Hoover Platinum in October 2009. Between then and March 2010 the upright managed to pull up our large-loop berber on three different occasions (for an example of the damage, see my picture).
Summary: Someone suggested this model would suck up a full grown Buick, and it's a good simile. I bought a two year old house with cut berber carpet which had very rarely been cleaned, it still had a lot of "new carpet fuzzies" in it, and this machine has definitely cleaned it up.
