Hoover SteamVac With Clean Surge F5914-900
16 April 2012
Summary: The manufacturer markets the brushroll as triple-speed, but it really has speeds of just high or low; the "third speed" is off. The SteamVac automatically shuts off when the recovery tank is full. We found a few user complaints about durability, but overall this machine appears more durable than most. It's covered by a limited one-year warranty.
Pros: Cleans well, Dries carpet well, Easy to maneuver, "Clean Surge" for tough stains
Cons: Small dirty-water tank, Some durability issues
Conclusion: The Hoover SteamVac does a great job on new carpets while the older carpeting can be renewed with the Clean Surge and Spin Scrub brushes.
Pros: Simple to assemble and easy to use., Cleans old stains on carpeting., Leaves the carpet pretty dry after a cleaning., Three modes which include spill pick-up, gentle scrub, and power scrub.
Cons: Some old stains and very heavy traffic marks don't come completely clean., Time consuming to wash and dry effectively., Attaching the hose is hard to do for the on board tools., Power Scrub hand tool leaks water while in use.
Excerpt: It is surprising how dirty carpet can get over a short period of time. Most vacuum cleaners simply do not get the job done. In order to completely sanitize and clean your carpet it must be steam cleaned.

Excerpt: A user reviews the Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac Vacuum with Clean Surge : “The Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac Vacuum with Clean Surge is my first carpet cleaner so I have nothing to compare it to except my own expectations. Even though the name is SteamVac, like all the others in this class of cleaners, there is no steam to it. That’s just false marketing, but all the manufacturers do it, so no particular knock on Hoover.
Excerpt: An Epinions user reviews the Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 SpinScrub Upright Vacuum Cleaner : “We purchased the Hoover SteamVac F5914-900 SpinScrub Upright Vacuum Cleaner as a bit of an impulse buy well over a year ago. We were considering cleaning our carpets but I had long ago decided I would never rent one of those impossible to use store rentals again.
