Summary: I am just about to throw a $250 vacuum in the trash. This machine cannot possibly have more than 25 hours on it. I had to bring it for service after the 1st use. I was told it simply needed a belt. The problem is, this vacuum just isn't powerful enough. I have hardwood floors with oriental area rugs, and not high quality thick ones, mind you. We have replaced the belt more than 5 times and my husband has had to replace the fuse a few times too. Piece of JUNK.
Summary: I bought this vacuum largely based on positive reviews in Consumer Reports. What a disappointment. I agree with the all the other negative comments I have read here. The attachments are of cheap plastic and some don't stay on well. (There is one small attachment that has two parts which seem to be in constant divorce proceedings.) The light in the power nozzle stopped working the second time I used the vacuum. The hose is cheap and gets kinked easily.
Summary: We had this vacuum cleaner for eight month and the power head stopped working. My sister was ready to throw the thing out the door. I am insisting on getting it fixed as we paid around $300 for this cleaner and can't believe I have to bring it for servicing. Also the canister is very heavy hence making it very awkward to maneuver around. Over all for the money we spent and for the sake of the brand name, it's a shame I think this is a very poor vacuumed cleaner.
Summary: First off, it's very hard to find canister vacuums in any stores, had I seen this canister "in person" I would not have bought it. Going back and reading the low score reviews I see what people are talking about. I have had this vacuum for about 6 weeks and it has been in for a warranty repair already, the switch other people mentioned, broke in less than a month. The one on the handle that turns the power head on and off.
Summary: I spent hours researching canister vacuums (my preference) before I purchased this. I bought it based on the reviews. Well, I will say that it does clean well - it's powerful - that's why I did give it 3 stars; but I absolutely hate this vacuum. It's like pulling a reluctant horse for a walk - it gets caught on every corner and it's so damn heavy I hate taking it out and dragging it around my apartment.
Summary: I purchased this vacuum cleaner in October of 2009 based on the (mostly) good reviews. I can only assume that the one I got is a lemon, because it has now broken down THREE times!! The power brush on the head stopped working first, so I got that fixed at my local Hoover service place. Then about a month after that, the motor in the main body unit had to be replaced, so I went and got that done.
Summary: I purchased the Hoover canister vacuum model S3670 because I had been satisfied with 2 previous Hoover canister vacuums. However, Hoover has made at least 3 changes to worsen the product's ease of use and performance: 1) the hard floor tool now has wheels that make it more difficult to move sideways and, more importantly, that hold it up off the floor so that it does not pick up all the dirt, 2) the flexible hose is much stiffer - so much so that it is actually difficult...
Summary: I just used it for a short time and had to puchase another one because I hated this so much. It is hard to pull, it is not easy to control the caniter. It is heavy and the performance is not so great. The hose is low quality plasic. I use it in my basement and the wand was coming apart so I taped it and not it broke completely. Terrible experience, terrible vacuum. Hoover, what a disappointment. I grew up with them. Things are just not made like they used to.
Summary: This vacuum cleaner is adequate, but not nearly as good as I was led to believe from the Consumer Reports review. The power head is supposed to be self-adjusting for the height of the carpet, but winds up requiring a great deal of effort to push and pull over the carpet. The other attachments are awkward to use and feel cheap.
Broke down after 4 months, warranty repair takes >1-2 months - horrible service and faulty product
31 July 2010
Summary: The vacuum broke down after approximately 4 months of light use (1-bedroom apartment, mostly on weekends): the 'bag full' light stopped working, the brushroll stopped working and the vacuum would operate only at the lower speed only, with a highly diminished "sucking" strength. We left it at a Hoover certified repair shop, they called us back next day and told us that the main circuit board had broken down, and that it needed to be replaced.
