Summary: I bought this vacuum at Costco, mainly because it was on sale and I thought I needed a new vacuum. I have it for a few weeks now and it has no problem! + Has an extendable wand and 3 included tools that reach to a maximum of 18 feet. + The 3 tools I got: a 2 in 1 tool: crevasse vacuum & brush vacuum, a stair cleaning tool, and a mini turbine used to remove pet hair.
Summary: Bought it at Costco, $100 off. As I was putting it together I was thinking it wasn't worth the money..all plastic pieces, very lightweight. Reminded me of the worthless, cheap electric brooms. I thought vacuums had to be heavy in order to do a good job. I was wrong. I have a Miele and Kenmore upright that I thought were doing a good job but I was wrong again. The amount of junk the Dyson sucked out of my carpets, floors, and furniture was eye-popping.
Summary: I purchased this after getting frustrated trying to find the right bag for the 5 year old hand-me-down vacuum I'd been using. The thing hadn't been working well anyways. I have used the Dyson DC25 (my mom's) and loved the handling of it, so I was looking at Dyson when I found this at a store with a $120 off coupon. I live in a small apartment with one very fluffy little shedder, and I was completely disgusted the first time I used this..
Summary: I took delivery of my DC40 Animal today, a Curry's exclusive version. My previous DC07 has served me well for 11 years. It went 'bang' at the weekend so I decided it was time for a replacement. I wanted a lighter one, but one which would also cope with dogs hairs. My first challenge was getting it out of the box- well packed! Putting it together was easier! It is much lighter and smaller than my old one but seems to be quite powerful.
Summary: I needed to replace my Dyson DC01 after 15 years good service. I researched various Dyson's and decided this one did the job as I needed one for both hard floors and carpets. The hardest part was getting the machine out of the box! Assembly was easy and I'm very pleased with the performance. It is lightweight and very easy to manoeuvre and it is easy to switch between different surfaces.
Summary: I bought this to replace an old Cylinder vacuum and it's certainly much better, very effective at picking up anything in its path. Very easy to put together and easy to detach the bin for emptying. The only drawback is the relatively small capacity of the bin which means frequent emptying but the ease of doing so means it isn't too much of a burden.
Summary: Comparing with our old DC03 this model is much easier & lighter to use and far more manoeuvrable. The animal version does collect far more dog hair and does not clog the brushes as quickly. Downsides are a shorter cable & the hose is shorter & almost needs to be un twisted to get it to its full length.
Summary: Firstly wow. Does this vacuum suck. I got it because the turbine attachment on my cylinder Dyson animal just can't get up all my dog's hairs. Somehow the carpet and thin long dog hair combo defeats it, taking lots of effort. Not so for this DC40. Wowie. And it's light, and manoeuvrable. Its one drawback is I have a load of rubber backed carpet 'dirt trapping' mats to help protect the floor in high traffic areas and the suck is so strong it just wants to lift up the rug.
