Summary: I bought this from Amazon last year. It's very disappointing. My main beef is with the flexible hose that is stored in the upright handle. It is about 1 1/2 feet long stored and it does not get a whole lot longer than that with out a lot of effort. The hose always wants to return to 1 1/2 feet long.
Summary: Great vacuum. ....unless you have cats, dogs, children or a husband. It will suck up a sock but can't handle a cheerio. Whats the point of paying this much money for a vacuum that can't suck up spilled catfood ? Or glitter ? Its a pointless vacuum.
Summary: If you are planning on using this on low pile or tile flooring, forget it. The suction is terrible. On carpeting, it's just okay, but on anything lower pile or flooring, the suction is sub-par. The vacuum is not worth 1/2 of the money.
Summary: I hate to admit I was wrong so writing this is hard. I researched the Dyson and thought that spending the extra money would be worth it. We have had this vacuum for over a year and it is the WORST investment I ever made.
Summary: This is a mediocre machine and i got sucked in by the hype (no pun intended). I bought it directly from the manufacturer who asked for, but has not posted my review (all of their reviews are 4 and 5 stars).
Summary: Got this Dyson DC40 (refurbished) from Overstock.com. This vacuum does its job but is unbearably loud and this is a DEALBREAKER. We spent almost 3 times more money on this vacuum cleaner compared to an equal performer and thought we are getting a well-designed, quality product.
Summary: We've already gone thru two of these. They work great for a few weeks, then have no suction. We're sending the second one back to Costco today, and will look for another brand. This product appears to have serious issues with manufacturing quality - pretty ridiculous for a $500 vacuum cleaner.
Summary: I have hardwood floors everywhere in my house. I am disappointed that this vacuum does not pick up dust bunnies without me picking up the vacuum and setting it down on top of the dust or having to pull the handheld piece out. I feel that I have to sweep my floor and then vacuum up the fine dust.
Summary: I purchased a first generation Dyson Animal when they first came out 10+ years ago. I LOVED that vacuum!! Unfortunately it had been abused pretty badly by my husband and I needed a new one. I love my first Dyson so much that I did not hesitate to purchase another.
Summary: Having owned a "non-ball" Dyson animal for years that worked great, we decided to get the "new" animal ball vacuum, the DC40. It is the epitome of a company making it big by making great products, then looking for ways to get richer by making the product more cheaply (without reducing the price).
