Summary: Purchased on Sept. 21, 2013 directly from manufacturer - new machine. Used about 7 times, small house, very minimal use. Today it broke, specifically, the handle will not recline, ergo I cannot vacuum floors with it. The return policy is 30 days, but since I bought it 57 days ago, I am stuck with it, and am the owner of a 5-year warranty on a piece of junk that broke on day 57.
Summary: I bought this from Amazon last year. It's very disappointing. My main beef is with the flexible hose that is stored in the upright handle. It is about 1 1/2 feet long stored and it does not get a whole lot longer than that with out a lot of effort. The hose always wants to return to 1 1/2 feet long. It never stays the length you want it and is always pulling it out of your hand.
Summary: I purchased a first generation Dyson Animal when they first came out 10+ years ago. I LOVED that vacuum!! Unfortunately it had been abused pretty badly by my husband and I needed a new one. I love my first Dyson so much that I did not hesitate to purchase another. I bought the Dyson DC40 and was sorely disappointed. It had no suction, a short cord, and a tiny dust receptacle. I was really unimpressed, but I was convinced that I was doing something wrong.
Summary: Having owned a "non-ball" Dyson animal for years that worked great, we decided to get the "new" animal ball vacuum, the DC40. It is the epitome of a company making it big by making great products, then looking for ways to get richer by making the product more cheaply (without reducing the price). The cord is 10 FEET shorter than my original dyson, so I'm constantly unplugging and replugging. And they made the bin about 20% SMALLER!!!
Summary: I have hardwood floors everywhere in my house. I am disappointed that this vacuum does not pick up dust bunnies without me picking up the vacuum and setting it down on top of the dust or having to pull the handheld piece out. I feel that I have to sweep my floor and then vacuum up the fine dust. I also do not like that there is not much flexibility in the handheld part. It is long and hard to maneuver in small areas. Do not think it is worth the money.
Summary: We've already gone thru two of these. They work great for a few weeks, then have no suction. We're sending the second one back to Costco today, and will look for another brand. This product appears to have serious issues with manufacturing quality - pretty ridiculous for a $500 vacuum cleaner.
Summary: I brought this Vacuum cleaner about 2 months ago after my other animal blow up this is one of the worst Dyson Vacuums i have ever purchased it blocks every time I use it i'am forever emptying the bin so disappointed in this vacuum cleaner I might as well have thrown my money in the bin it cant cope with my dogs hairs ALWAYS BEEN PLEASED WITH MY DYSON BUT WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VERY SAD
Summary: THIS DYSON WILL NOT WORK ON CARPET!!! The machine is extremely hard to push on carpet. My wife can not physically move the vacuum when turned on. When you push the dyson hard to try and operate it exhausts and skims over the carpet. Had a Dyson engineer out and he specified that this was a design fault on the newer machines due to the new type suction head. I have been offered a downgrade. Thank you very much, will never buy Dyson again.
Summary: I bought this at the end of August. It was used approximately 8 times when the catch to release the dust cylinder broke, the handle no longer came down properly and the wand would not click into place
Summary: I was a little concerned to feel how the strong suction made the whole thing difficult to push over the carpet. I decided to test what this was causing by selecting the same area to clean 5 times. The size of the area was approximately 2ft by 5ft. The carpet was perfectly clean after first try and I emptied the cylinder. I then went through the same process 4 more times and each time I emptied the cylinder.
