Rock solid after 7 years, make a great mess when emptying clear dust bin.
1 September 2014
Summary: I got this DC20 in 2007. After 7 years, it is still rock solid and provides great suction. The only drawback of the design is dust gets everywhere when emptying dust bin. Pros: - Great suction, 280 Air Watts - Easy to store - On-board tools storage - Reliable Cons: - Unlike the newer Dyson models, emptying clear dust bin is a pain. - It is not ideal to empty dust bin into small kitchen bin. - Dust gets everywhere when emptying, meaning I can do it outside my house.
Summary: If you have never bought a Dyson vacuum before - now is the time. This is my second Dyson and they are superb! You cannot simply believe the amount of dust these hoovers can pick up compared to others. Admittedly, they do cost a little more, but for the quality and brand - second to none. What I like about Dyson is that all their vacuums come with a 5 year guarantee - so you have total piece of mind.
Summary: My previous model was the DC05 which was excellent so when the motor blew after many years I decided to upgrade to a newer model. A big disappointment, its much heavier, no greater suction and the biggest moan is that the tools fix straight into the end of the hose with no swivel. This makes the tools difficult to use as the hose is very stiff and to position the tool at certain angles like dusting you have remove it from the hose and refit at the right angle.
Summary: I cannot believe how much dog hair this machine lifts from the carpet with one sweep. My other machine (a Thomas) lifts a lot of hair but I would have to go over and over the carpet and it is twice as heavy. I have read reviews that the Dyson is heavy but I have not found it so.It sits really well on the stairs. The hose fits to a clip on the front so it is easy to manoeuvre. Does the job in half the time.
Summary: I was in 2 minds about buying a Dyson, I have heard such horror stories about reliability. However, after reviewing the Which? reviews of vacuum cleaners, Dyson got quite good ratings. What finally swung it was the newly introduced free 5 year guarantee, which no-one else offers (as far as I know). I also like the fact you don't need bags or paper inserts, which can dramatically push up the cost over the life of the machine.
Summary: This is our third Dyson. We began way back with a DC02 which is still working fine. We then got a turquoise one (can't recall the model number)and the carpet head didn't seem to clean to the edges very well so has been sent upstairs for occasional quick vacuuming inbetween taking this model up for more thorough vacuuming. When we got the DC20 we noticed the carpet head works much better.
Summary: This cleaner copes with anything our Labrador can throw at it so that is a fair demonstration of its power. Much is made of the fact that these machines are bagless however I am not convinced of the advantage (other than cost) over disposable bags as cleaning the dust container is not the easier of tasks. It would have helped if Dyson had provided a brush which could reach into the gaps to clean the container (a bottle brush is the nearest I can find).
Summary: I bought this about 18 months ago, and after yet another frustrating vacuuming session, felt compelled to write something! From the start I have been disappointed with the suction on this - no better than any previous vacuum I have had. I also find that the only attachment that will really get pet hairs off rugs and carpets is the hard floor attachment! The carpet attachments are almost useless so I no longer use them. Would I buy a Dyson again?
Summary: Pros: amazin constant power, easy to work with, easy to clean, range of accessories, no no-go areas, looks, rugged Cons: absolutely none Conclusion: If you want a truly great vacuum, with no compromises in performance, handling, durability and looks, this is it. Compared to what it delivers its price is more than reasonable. A definite winner that you will love.
Summary: The hoover is much heavier than I thought it would be, and its clumsier to use on the stairs than the Dyson upright hoover as the hose isn't as long. The suction is not as good as the upright, and its like a chinese puzzle to stack away, but the more I use it the easier its becoming. I must admit it seems to be picking up better the more I've used it. My greatest disapointment is that the rest of my family won't touch it so all the hoovering is left to me.
