Summary: I bought this DC 17 used, apparently it is well used. It is very noisy especially pulling it backward, I live in an apartment and my neighbors complain about the noise. The main complaint has nothing to do with how used it is, and that is cleaning the top portion of the cyclone system, it fills up with fine dust pretty quickly and since it will not come apart it is a real pain to clean.
Summary: well i am a neat freak i clean every day. The biggest thing about this is cleaining it out. You cant just empty the bin doesnt get all the nasty out. And they should have made the cone break in half so you could wash it. I did that already i had to get a new cone for one hundred bucks.
Summary: Not sure why, when they brag about the design and ergonomics of this product, they use cheap plastic on this product that breaks due to minimal or normal usage. The hinge on the dirt collected broke after a couple of uses, then the push lever to release the bottom of that collector broke(I pushed my thumb through it;it was a very thin plastic strip that you push down onto to release the bottom part).
Summary: After hearing everyone rave about Dyson vacuum cleaners. I was excited when my mom gave her her old DC17. I honestly have never disliked a vacuum cleaner more then this one. It doesn't edge walls by running it close to them. The wand/hose are difficult to use, and clog easily. Cleaning the suction holes is a gagtastic thing I never had to deal with using a bagged vacuum.
Summary: Bought my first dyson animal when I had a smaller apt and only ferrets to get fur everywhere and it worked ok for regular cleaning of two rooms. Then I got a dog and a messy boyfriend and the vacuum didnt seem to handle the massive amount of dirt they track everywhere. Still, I was used to it so I ended up buying the step up version thinking it would work better.
Summary: The product arrived in a reasonable amount of time, approximately a week and a half. I was in no particular hurry, so this wasn't a problem. The product arrived with one corner chipped out, making it difficult to install. I swapped ends with my old brush to get an undamaged part to be able to install. Everything else went like clockwork. I didn't send the damaged part back because I just didn't want to deal with the hassle. Time is an important commodity for everyone.
Summary: A good machine that cleans both carpet and tile floor (with an additional attachment) very well. The carpets feel fluffier than before every time I vacuum. My biggest concern is that it is a little too powerful. Every time I vacuum the entire canister fills up with carpet fibers after vacuuming one room and has to be emptied. Now I don't have cheap carpet either. It gets the dust and dirt too, don't worry.
Summary: Just picked this up at Target at clearance price of $225 (retail $449 or so). First room vacuumed with old vacuum then this. Picked up a surprising amount. Second room did not pre-vacuum. Literally the entire cannister was overfilled by the time I was done (10X14 bedroom). When you take a close look at what the debris is, I would say half of it appeared to be carpet fibers. The carpet is a weave so there is no pile.
Summary: I wanted to love my Dyson. Everywhere I looked, people were raving about it. We have a cat and a dog, so I was really hoping that the "world's best vacuum", the one meant for people with animals, would be head and shoulders above the rest. Well, sad to say, after four years of ownership, I think it's merely average. It does a good job vacuuming. But, not "twice the cost of other quality vacuums" good. Nothing has broken yet.
