Dyson animal worst vacuum ever!

Julierc, Viewpoints
22 March 2011
  • Excerpt: I bought my dyson animal when they first came out at sears for $499 thinking it would be a good choice, it did clean good at first, my only complaint was the crazy attachment hose being hard to use. Then the beater bar would become wrapped with hair, strings, lint n you name it. Flipping it and taking scissors and tweezers was the only way to remove it. I called customer service who would only say it won't loose suction to send it to service center.

  • Summary: I was excited to get this product at such a great price. As soon as I got it home, I assembled it according to instructions, and began using it immediately. However, when I used it on my carpets (very low pile, mostly burbur rugs), it made a loud grinding noise, as if something was stuck on the brush wheel. I turned it over to check it, but nothing was there. I used it on the wood floors, no noise. As soon as it went on the carpets, the noise started again.

  • Summary: Unfortunately this vacuum had to be returned. It worked great on hard floors, but it made a terrible grinding noise on our carpet and was difficult to push. I expected way better from Dyson.

  • Summary: While I agree I have never had a vacuum cleaner with such great suction, I found using it exhausting and hurt my back. I took it back, thank you Walmart. I have wood floors, large low pile area rugs and high pile area rugs. It would not hardly move on the high pile rug and was not user friendly when going from one pile to another.

  • Summary: As soon as I assembled the vacuum I tried it on a bare floor and it seemed to work fine. I then switched the setting to carpet and tried it on an oriental rug and the belt immediately started a very loud clicking noise. Stopped the machine and checked to see nothing was tangled but there was nothing. Repeated this a few times on other rugs and carpet and got same result.

Loud Noise

Overstock
2 January 2010
  • Summary: I am very unhappy with this vacuum as it started making loud noises the third time I used it. We checked it out for obstructions and haven't found anything. The design of the front is also inconvenient since there is a part that sticks up too high to get under my kitchen cabinets, etc.We are returning it and will not be getting another one.

Beater Brush/ Rotator Cracked On Mine in Less Than 5 Minutes. TWICE!!!

Omo Egbo, Amazon
29 October 2009
  • Summary: Read a lot of reviews and decided to take the plunge and spend the money on a DC 14. Went into Best Buy, and bought a "demo/open box" for $309. Returned home happy with my purchase and immediately started vacuuming. No Problems on the hard wood floors, I transitioned to the carpet and almost immediately heard a loud crackling sound from the brush housing. Looked and noticed it had cracked and warped at one side.

Would not recommend

R.H., Amazon
29 October 2009
  • Summary: OK, so after a lot of research and looking around I decided to get a Dyson DC-14. I thought that the construction seemed to feel a little flimsy, but I would give it a try after hearing so many people rant and rave about it. The first one that I had broke after about 20 minutes of vacuuming. The beater brush cracked and made a terrible noise. Now I do not have thick carpet and I was not using the vacuum aggressively. So I thought, ok I got a lemon. I will try another.

floor scratching machine

Dmitri Markovitch "tromor15", Amazon
24 September 2009
  • Summary: I have had this Dyson DC14 All Floors for almost a year. This product (and possibly other Dyson models) seems to have a design flaw. Its base is too low to the ground. Specifically, a vacuum must have sufficient clearance, so that it will not trap and drag small debris that it cannot pick up. Dyson has the lowest clearance of any vac one can see on store displays. Its low clearance from the floor makes it a floor wrecking machine.
