  • Summary: This vacuum is much better than I expected. I got it early in August 2013, about a year ago. It took about 10 minutes to assemble, which it was quite easy to do! It was also shockingly quiet compared to my previous Dirt Devil upright! It has an upholstery brush along with a crevice tool. The power brush is motor driven and the pole can detach itself and can be used as an extension wand.

Cute but Awkward

Crazy BamaGirl "Miss LJJ", Amazon

  • Summary: Has good suction, however, the rigid hose make it awkward to maneuver and difficult to use. Also, it is difficult to detach the hose from the floor tool to use the attachments.

  • Summary: This vacuum is completely made of plastic. It is the cheapest vacuum I have ever seen. Do not believe any of the other reviews. Broke within the fist 5 minutes of using it.

Fizzled out

Beth, Amazon
1 July 2014
  • Summary: I loved this vacuum to start with but now, 3 months after purchase, it doesn't pick up well at all. (I have faithfully followed every direction and done all the emptying and cleaning that is recommended.) It IS easy to use, lightweight, fairly easy to empty and clean, but it doesn't pick up well at all. Even the carpet fibers don't looked fluffed (how hard is it to pick carpet fibers up enough to look like they've been moved?

Dirty Devil Canister Vacuum SD40030

Sarah Leer, Amazon
27 June 2014
  • Summary: I returned it. Sucks well, but I think all of those bagless ones do. The power head was too hard to push across carpet. If it were heavier, (like the hoover bagless I was replacing) it would get down into the carpet but it skimmed over it. The head should be self propelled like the Eureka I ordered after this. It is a good deal for the money, just not substantial enough for me.

It does the job.

C. H. Essert, Amazon
17 June 2014
  • Summary: I have been using this Dirt Devil a few months now. It is a bit cumbersome to use and does a poor job with either carpeting or area rugs. It is good for hardwood floor, tile and cork flooring. Removing the power head to use attachments is difficult. The attachments go on too near the handle, making it hard to get to those awkward places that you need some reach for. The dust brush that comes with this unit is more like a paint and rust scraper.

The best inexpensive canister vacuum cleaner

Cannaday.Steven, Amazon
12 June 2014
  • Summary: I bought this dirt devil vacuum cleaner a year ago and I am very impressed with it. Several months ago I was vacuuming my bathroom through rug and it got caught up in the vacuum, I thought the belt had broken because after I unraveled the rug out of the vacuum cleaner the brushes wouldn't turn. I noticed a reset button on the vacuum head, I pressed the reset button and the vacuum brushes started spinning again. The best vacuum cleaner I have ever purchased.

  • Summary: Some time there is nothing you can do but just send it back. Even if you want to give it second, third and fourth chance... In the end of February we purchased this vacuum cleaner. Wife liked it and it was replacing another Dirt Devil vacuum that been with us for years and now going to be used to vacuum cars. On second cleaning of the house, my wife pointed out that plastic collar on top of the wand developed cracked, but she did liked it nevertheless.
