Summary: I was in the market for a portable pet vacuum, to pick up pet hairs on carpeting, sofas and pet accessories (pet beds, scratching posts). This Dirt Devil was highly rated by purchasers, and the name recognition carried weight too, so I purchased it thru Amazon. What a mistake. It's advertised with the statement that " [A] powerful motorized brush lifts stubborn pet hair off carpet, furniture, upholstery and stairs.
Summary: Gets the job done well! Carpeted stairs have been my nemesis for quite some time. Having two dogs shedding like it's their job to re-carpet our house makes keeping the stairs clean a bit of a challenge. This bad boy makes this task a snap and not the dreaded chore it once was (imagine lugging a full-size upright vac up the stairs and "scrubbing" each step with the brush/extension attachment, ugh!).
Summary: Used only twice and belt broke while cleaning out vehicle. New belt has slipped off of brush 8 times so far, and power has not even turned on. Just turning brush by hand causes belt to walk right off of spindle/brush. Brush has no track for belt to ride in, belt just walks right off. A older person with artritis in fingers would not be able to replace belt at all.
Summary: I researched handheld vacuums with a roller brush for a couple hours when finally deciding to purchase the Dirt Devil Purpose for Pets model. The deciding factor for me was that it boasted a 7 amp motor, which was bigger than the others I was comparing it to. I needed this vacuum for my motorhome, as space is very limited and we do have a dog who sheds something fierce.
Summary: My wife and I have two dogs and three cats. She bought this so we could keep tidy a small carpeted area where pet hair and cat litter sometimes accumulate. We found this vacuum to be ENTIRELY INADEQUATE. It kicks more dirt around than it sucks up, and what it does suck up falls back out the front if you tilt this vacuum even slightly forward. I implore you, do not buy this product.
Summary: I know my review will sound like a broken record, but I had to give my 2 cents like a lot of others have about this great vac with an unbelievably tiny dirt cup. First let me say it works GREAT. I love that it is corded as my Shark hand vac would die after one set of stairs, and this cord is plenty long. The suction is superior so far, but how long that will last only time will tell. Now for the things that aren't so great. It does get very hot.
Summary: I think this would make a really good little vac for "small" jobs. I got it to do my stairs easier and that seems to push its limits a little. The cup is pretty small and it makes a lot of noise, but it scrubbed the awful carpet treads I have very well. Empty the cup frequently to keep up suction.
Summary: Very powerful little machine! Great for pet hair on the sofa. Only issue is the attachments. You don't get as much suction via the attachments. I wish I had a LARGE version of this for the rest of the house!
Summary: My Golden Retriever is a fur coat with legs that sheds profusely if not brushed frequently. Of course he is so cute we can't resist letting him up on the bed and couches. This vacuum pulls up all the fur with hardly any effort on the first pass! Even after going over the carpet with our Sears fullsize vacuum with a new bag (which works very well), this vacuum finds a whole lot more dust, dirt and fur! It is very light and easy to use and comes with a long cord.
Summary: I purchased this vacuum several months ago. At first, I was pleased with it because it did a good job picking up the dog hair off my stairs. But that's about the only good thing I can say about it. I have already had to replace it after a couple of months of infrequent use because the belt won't stay on well anymore and when it IS on, the vacuum leaves trails of dog hair rather than picking it all up.
