Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless vacuum is a great value for the price

Summary: I wanted a vacuum cleaner that was light enough that I didn't feel exhausted after vacuuming. It's the first time I've had a bag-less vacuum cleaner & I find that a terrific invention. I like the head size for getting around and under things although one could argue that that means more back-forth to cover a large area. Lightness & easy mobility more than make up for that, to me. I have a cat & this seems to be doing a good job with pet hair; good enough for me, anyway.
Summary: This vacuum cleaner is the worst ever. Why? It just doesn't do what it is supposed to do: clean. When I go over the same spot for like ten times, it still hasn't vacuumed all the particles that are on the floor. Today, it even blew dust back on the floor, instead of sucking it in! Don't waste your money on this machine.
Summary: This vacuum cleaner is light and I like it. Unfortunately, the plastic handle BROKE within 7 months. I was not exerting extra force, just trying to lift up the bottom by pulling down the handle, something I have done many times. This time, it broke. I have been unable to re-attach by glue or even tape it back together. What a shame!!!
Summary: Works like the more expensive vacuums and is easy to use and doesn't take much space. I bought this one for my grandson and his roommate for their small apartment. I loved mine and he loves his.
Don't Buy It - It's an Al Cheapo Scam! Lasts for about a year before it dies!

Summary: I received this vacuum cleaner as a present about a year ago. I used it about 10 times (my cleaners bring their own vacuum cleaner) in the course of 11 months. It then smelled like burnt rubber and died. The saga of the Dirt Devil customer service began. Try to register on the dirt devil online site. It's time consuming and confusing.
Summary: The Dirt Devil UD40285 Featherlite is great as long as it works. The Royal Dirt Devil Lower Hose Adaptor, where the flexable hose attaches is easily broken. Try finding a replacement...Dirt Devel doesn't have them. If you accidently loose the rubber gasket at the bottom of the canister you will have to buy the entire canister. They don't sell the $1.00 gasket seperately. So get ready to kick out $35.00 to $50.00 with shipping if you ever want to use it again.
Summary: I have used Dirt Devil Featherlite vacuum for about 6 months and am about ready to chuck it thru the window. The tools are good and pickup is good, however, and this is a big one, the belt busts about every fifth time you use it. I am using the correct belt and one made by the manufacturer. Also Belt replacement is a long process involving having to unscrew a whole section of the vacuum. I definately would not recommend this vacuum.
