Average at best

Patrick M., Newegg

  • Pros: Large compacity for cheap (in 2013, a 64 gb 3.0 usb flash drive for $30 or less was awesome) Read/write speeds were pretty legit for the time
  • Cons: When writing multiple large files (anything over 1gb such as a movie) the device would begin to get very warm and actually disconnect from the computer. My sandisk extreme 64 gb has non of these issues whatsoever as it will compensate and slow down read/write transfer rates if heat is an issue.

Incompatible booting Apple products

Edward S., Newegg
2 July 2014
  • Summary: Felt the previous 64GB TEAM X101 was fine. But something changed with this one. It will mount, but not boot Apple on USB 3.0 ports. Update: something is with this drive's chipset. Compared to previous 64GB TEAM X101 in blue, all 4 Silver do the same thing.
  • Pros: Aluminum, slim but still won't fit alongside occupied USB port. Has lanyard loop. Red LED visible through smoked lanyard loop. Previous Team X101 worked as a bootable USB drive to troubleshoot Mac products.
  • Cons: Having issue compared to previous Team X101 in blue (Newegg not stock this or other 64GB) This will mount on later model Macbookpro/iMac but will not boot. GUID formatted, partitioned. Installed OS, utility drive. Older blue X101 works but not this later, silver model (different p/n). System prof...

  • Summary: Mfgs. a lanyard is as close to swag as one can get with a thumb drive and I personally find them useful please include them.
  • Pros: fast its a speedy little drive sustained speeds of 90 plus while transferring a large amount of files {16gig+} wow this is one of the first 3.0 thumb drives that is as fast as advertised for the money.
  • Cons: no lanyard only one per package.

Team X-101

Gregory C., Newegg
10 March 2014
  • Summary: Have mine formatted as EXFAT so i can use it on both Mac and Windows machines. Both recognize it immediately and speed is great on both OS's.
  • Pros: Still going strong after over 1 year. Surprisingly fast on both Mac and Windows machines.
  • Cons: Haven't found any yet. Luckily haven't lost the cap yet.

It works somewhat.

Sean W., Newegg
9 March 2014
  • Summary: I want to note I have a Gigabyte UD3h z87 motherboard because not all usb 3.0 is the same. No bottlenecks here, everyone should list their boards for these reviews!
  • Pros: It holds 32GB
  • Cons: It is simply not nearly as fast as the manufacturer claims. In real world testing the read speed was averaging 90MB/s and the write was an awful 32MB/s. This drive was a replacement over my Mushkin ventura drive that was of the same size a similarly priced I thought I would try something differen...

Not what I bargained for

Mark D., Newegg
25 February 2014
  • Summary: I used this drive as my "essentials" device, where I could walk software updates and media to different machines in my lab. One day, I had an issue with writing a file to the drive, and within an hour I had essentially a bricked USB device.
  • Pros: Stores a lot of stuff. USB3
  • Cons: Turned into a paperweight after two months. I can read files on the drive, but cannot do anything to erase, modify, or add files. Fairly useless now.

No regrets

John S., Newegg
20 January 2014
  • Summary: Very saitisfied overall and next thumb drive will most likely be a Team X101 as well.
  • Pros: Speed Includes a small lanyard to attach to keychains etc. Construction (seems solid, not flimsy)
  • Cons: Overall physical size is a little bigger than what I would like to have on my keychain. Also, I wish the cap was somehow attached to the body, it is very easy to lose.
