U3 software does not run
8 September 2014
Summary: Don't waste your money with a SanDisk. I have tried for two days to get the Launchpad to work and it won't. Might as well use a cheaper flash drive without the non-working software. SanDisk's web page is no help. They suggest editing the registry. After 30 minutes, that did not work. Buy something cheaper.
Summary: I bought a 16 Gig used it once and downloaded the security software but then it would not work again. I plugged it in the second time and it took five minutes to read it. My computer recognized it and loaded the drivers fine but showed it had zero bytes on it and had zero bytes available. Could not format it or do anything with it. Tried to open the security software that I downloaded to my computer from it but it would not open.
Summary: Accidentally put through wash cycle. After drying, I checked whether the Ubuntu OS I had installed on it was functional. Was relieved when I powered up laptop and Ubuntu was fully operational. I see that the San Disk 16 GB disk is now $4 less. Still, I purchased 3 of these at a great price. I use another to store images on, freeing HDD space. I especially like Sans Disk retractable because I don't worry about lost caps. Load time is slow, but that is to be expected.
Summary: As long as you remember to reformat as xFAT or NTFS so you can transfer files larger than 4GB single file limitation, this item is perfect for storing lots of data. I used it for a video editing scratch drive and as the storage for the finalized files and it worked great!
