Excerpt: You are forced to download their security "protection" in order to even be able to format it.Worthless junk does not work on Linux systems. Here is yet another product co-opted by Microsoft that should work on any machine. Yet "low and behold" they incorporated the Microsoft UEFI type of security bulls to ensure that it won't work on anything besides Microsoft and Apple.
Sorry, neither worked and SanDisk said to return because they were not functional.

Summary: I purchased 2 SanDisk Cruzer Edge 4GB USB 2.0 flash drives, black and received them today. Attached each of them (at different times) to a USB port, and the same thing occurred with each: It said it had installed successfully, but did not show up under Computer (my computer), and you just can not put files on one if you can't see them.
Summary: My cousin gave me some pictures and saved them on one of these SanDisk Cruzer Edge drives. Is it cheap quality with the plastic contact! It took me quite a few tries to successfully insert it into the USB port of my computer. The head kept getting pushed back into the SanDisk housing! I do not think it'll be very durable with frequent use. I am glad that I was able to extract the photos but I won't use it again for fear of losing my data.
Summary: I have purchased many SanDisk USBs in the past and never had an issue. I am so upset I wasted my money on this horribly designed flash drive. And you couldn't tell in the package that the design was so crappy. I wish I had looked here first before wasting my money. I bought a cheesy Angry Birds USB that works better......seriously.
Summary: I bought one of these at Wal-Mart, backed up files until it was about half full. Fast forward two months and there's no data on it. I had accidentally backed up the data twice so it was okay. I brought it back to Wal-Mart thinking it was just defective. Swapped it for a new one, at home I tested it and no matter whether I reformated it, used Windows Repair on it, when you put data into it, unplugged it, then plugged it in it was empty.
Summary: I usually depend on Sandisk to deliver a reliable product at a decent price, sadly the "Sandisk Cruzer Edge" does not deliver. Less than 30 days and the outer shell had cracked and would no longer stay on my keyring. At about 90 days the drive stop being recognized my primary computer and by about 5 months no computer would recognize it at all. I still regularly recommend Sandisk with a new caveat, "Anything but the Cruzer Edge".
Summary: I used it for only a few minutes before it froze and permanently made itself read-only! Now it's junk. I can't format it, I can't erase it. Supposedly it's a KNOWN DEFECT and they still sell it!
