Great look - Slow Write Speed

Anonymous, Newegg
7 January 2008
  • Summary: According to my tests... Read speeds seemed to be very fast. I copied from the drive down to my desktop a 500MB file and about 30 extremely small files (1kb or less) and it took around 18s which was about twice the speed of my Sandisk Cruzer 4GB which transfered the same file in about 35s.
  • Pros: The flash drive looks great! It's sleek and very compact. It's about the size of three credit cards stacked and easily fits in a wallet. It also comes with a small black bag to place it in so you can keep it in your pocket without getting it scratched up with keys or pocket change. It appears to ...
  • Cons: When I received mine it installed on my desktop PC and then every time I plugged it in the flash drive's built in management application would freeze and became unusable so I was unable to transfer any files or access the software's settings. I had to download a tool from PQI to reformat my drive...

Read Comments on U3

Jim B., Newegg
5 September 2007
  • Summary: If you don't mind changing the way you use a computer to match what your USB drive is demanding, you may not mind the U3. Just don't think you're going to get rid of it.
  • Pros: Completely overshadowed by the U3 issue. The drive was useless to me.
  • Cons: Read the other comments on U3 before you buy. U3 decided for me how I should use my new USB flash drive.I hated what U3 did. There was no way to get rid of it. The thing was an evil infestation worse than any virus I have encountered. I finally returned the product as defective, which for me it w...

BEWARE of U3

Cliff M., Newegg
2 July 2007
  • Pros: looks pretty slick
  • Cons: U3 is EVIL and is considered by many to be malware. U3 also causes problems if you want to make a boot drive. Its integration with the USB key is very proprietary - standard disk tools don't erase it, you need special software to do it, and even then it causes people grief. It installs itself wit...

User Review

Daniel J., Newegg
26 October 2006
  • Summary: Drivers for Win9x are easily obtainable from the manufacturer's website. All in all a wonderful product, and I highly recommend it for those who want a USB drive but don't want extra stuff on their keychains.
  • Pros: MORE than worth the price. I love the form factor. Seems very, very sturdy with the plug retracted. The ribbon that attaches the plug to the main part is a little flimsy so be careful, but otherwise it's sturdy, hardy, and well-constructed. The little pleather caddy is very nice and can be used f...
  • Cons: Came with its own proprietary software which required an activation key. The activation key was mysteriously missing. I didn't want to use the software anyway, and it's not taking up any space as it's set up on a virtual CD-ROM drive contained within the thing, but...kinda weird. Didn't cause a p...

24 September 2006
  • Summary: PQI continues to be ahead of the pack in flash memory innovation.
  • Pros: Awesome size and capacity for the price. Metal construction is confidence-inspriing. Fits in a wallet just like two credit cards.
  • Cons: A tad bit slow when writing data. Also, included U3 software is a little underdeveloped; the unit sometimes takes 2+ minutes to install on older machines due to the U3 software.

Response to Very Disappointed

Robert H., Newegg
30 July 2006
  • Summary: Very Disappointed. you do realize when you format the drive (any drive) you can set the cluster size to whatever you like. Try using Disk Management tools instead of just Right-Click/Format and you will see what I'm talking about.
  • Pros: Just a "other thought" comment
  • Cons: Just a "other thought" comment
