PQI U230 Traveling Flash Disk (2GB)

techiewriter, ReviewStream
17 July 2008
  • Excerpt: I’ve been using my U230 PQI travelling flash disk all the time especially if I am on travel. It is very convenient to use and can store up to 2GB of space. I bought it sometime ago so I was not able to get a flash disk as big …

User Review

David E., Newegg
8 September 2007
  • Summary: The only memory products ever to fail me in the last decade have been made by this manufacturer. Its you money, and if you don't mind losing your files then go ahead and buy PQI. Many of the problems that I read about with corrupted files across all brands make me wonder if people are actually doing...
  • Pros: None, unless you consider failing within a few months a Pro.
  • Cons: Product worked for a few months and then started to corrupt data. It wouldn't reformat correctly. Their Customer Support is among the worst. There is a reason why they don't warrant their products very long.

It Works

Paul S., Newegg
4 September 2007
  • Summary: Good price, 4GB of storage, buy it.
  • Pros: Well it works.
  • Cons: Cap isn't attached and can't simply be placed on the back while on a key chain. I'll likely loose it sooner or later.

Storage for cheap

Anonymous, Newegg
2 September 2007
  • Summary: I like it.
  • Pros: Simple and effective and pretty cheap by comparison. I don't know what people are thinking when they say its slow or whatever; writes just fine and just as fast as anything else.
  • Cons: It's made of plastic, so it will eventually kill itself. The cap is not attached and there is no laynard.

Decent

  • Summary: a decent little drive. Does what it's supposed to do. I have used it daily (on Windoze and Ubuntu) and have no issues.
  • Pros: 4GB of flash memory. LED access light. Free (with HP C6180 purchase).
  • Cons: rather slow write speed.

Adequate

Samuel S., Newegg
24 August 2007
  • Summary: Unit seems okay now, but my initial setup troubles make me worry. I'll be using the unit as a backup, but won't ever rely on it to store data I can't afford to lose.
  • Pros: Price (free with HP LaserJet), high capacity, and it works (so far...knock on wood).
  • Cons: Had some trouble initially...needed several complete re-format and re-partition cycles before it finally kicked to life. Plastic keyring seems a bit shaky.

3.8 GB, but SLOW...

Anonymous, Newegg
23 August 2007
  • Summary: If I had paid something for this (free with combo deal) I'd be mad...but then again, I wouldn't have bought this one as it has WAY too many poor reviews...(add mine to the list) If you want a 4 GB flash drive that is fast and reliable, your best bet is a more mainstream company (Crucial, or if you...
  • Pros: Well, large storage...but that's about the only pro.
  • Cons: Slow; HDTach shows it as being at 1 MB/s or lower for most of the drive. I'll just continue to use my 256MB Cruzer, its small, but fast.
