Reformat to NTFS, too slow in FAT32

John S., Newegg
  • Summary: Personally I like flash drives in metal case, as this helps transfer away heat and allows it to run faster. But these are good for occasional use with large files at a reasonable price
  • Pros: Reasonably fast write, starts at 100 MB/s, then slows as it heats up, down to 30 MB/s on 13 GB transfer. Faster than most. Reads at 100 MB/s consistently
  • Cons: None yet

VERY VERY VERY SSSSLOOOOOW

  • Excerpt: I bought 10 of these to pass out to family & friends on Christmas. I grabbed a couple for myself as well. BIG WASTE OF MONEY. BIG WASTE. The ones I got for myself, were to save games from my XBOX. XBOX automatically checks it to see if it will handle the read & write speeds. It also formats it.

  • Summary: Spend a little more and buy this from a trusted manufacturer
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Purchased in April - stopped working in September: intermittently shows drive with no media or does not show up at all. Will try getting it through PNY warranty, no high hopes though.

not happy

MARIANNE P., Newegg
14 November 2015
  • Summary: I continue to use it as a data storage device, but it's pretty crippled given the heating & slow-down issues. In particular, I just realize it is most useful on a USB 2 port and that it shouldn't be tasked with transfers over 10 GB at a time, then use it accordingly.
  • Pros: 128 GB of storage It has not died (yet) it is much faster than USB 2.0 It was fairly cheap at the time for a USB 3 / 128 GB flash drive On a USB 2 port, it transfers data at the full capacity of the USB 2 port. This is actually pretty important & useful because I still service a number of compute...
  • Cons: It does not transfer at USB speeds, and it does not even meet the advertised specifications (when on USB 3 ports). It runs scary hot when large transfers, such as over 30-40 GB at a time. It drastically slows down when it gets hot. Like, insanely low speeds. I find that I need to transfer ~10-12 ...

UGH

druek, Amazon
3 November 2015
  • Summary: I used this a few times at home. Then I took it to work. Inserted it fewer than half a dozen times. The plastic tongue inside the metal housing slid back. Computer doesn't see it. Luckily I didn't have data on it, but it wasted my time.
