Great features, poor construction

Erik Schultz, Amazon
23 September 2006
  • Summary: I have read consistant reviews on all the different sizes of this drive of poor constructions - the plastic breaks very easily. But this was the ONLY drive on the market that had the features I want - specificly, encrypted and non-encrypted portions, non-U3, and the ability to attach a...

Excessive price is for the warranty

Thomas P., Newegg
23 July 2006
  • Summary: With all the complaints about the weak housing you figured they would have redesigned it by now. After all, this is supposed to be Lexar's "flagship" drive. It is only a matter of time before this one breaks. When that happens I will just make a better housing myself.
  • Pros: extremely fast (sometimes faster than 24 mb/s read and i've seen 17 mb/s write) and looks great. Decent software (i've seen better though) This could have almost been the perfect USB flash drive. They've been very good with their warranty from what I've seen.
  • Cons: I am on my 3rd drive. Cap and plastic base broke on my 1st one. They replaced it with an old used scratched up one. The entire body of the casing broke on that. Took 1.5 months to receive my 2nd replacement. They did send me a new one after I asked for one though.

Stay Away

14 July 2006
  • Pros: It looks great when it's brand new.
  • Cons: Like one of the other users the rubber that holds the metal sides together cracked very shortly after purchasing. It worked for a few months with tape holding it together but broke yesterday. Other drives would be a better choice.

bad casing

Anonymous, Newegg
29 June 2006
  • Pros: Sharp looking, good transfer speeds. Included software allows easy partitioning. File sync software is adequate.
  • Cons: Within a week of purchasing this drive, the cap fell apart. It is made of the same material as the case, but the seams are cheap plastic and break easily. After about 4 weeks of use, the seam of the case split in the same way the cap did. Having good casing material doesn't really help if the thi...

Nice Drive with a Major Flaw

Frank D., Newegg
3 February 2006
  • Summary: This is a fine product, however, the way that the software designers wrote the synchronozation software leaves a great deal to be desired. Because of the way that the preloaded software is configured, only those people with administrator rights will be able to sync their drives with their computers...
  • Pros: (1)Very attractive, well designed, and well constructed. (2)The drive has a nice solid substantial feel to it. (3)Very fast transfers and synchronozations between the jump drive and my home computer where I am logged on as an administrator. (4)The preloaded jumpdrive software works well for admin...
  • Cons: (1)The preloaded Lexar jumpdrive Synchronozation software will not work on a network where the user can not log on as an administrator. (2)Calls and e-mails to Lexar support (very prompt and courteous) said that there is no work-around. They stated that the sync software will only work if one is ...
