Great thumb drive but......

E. Majewski, Amazon
8 November 2012
  • Summary: ....Amazon advertises this as compatible with Windows 98. It's not. Lexar has a Win98 driver on their website but it won't work for me.

Very Slow Write Speed

Galahan "Galahan", Amazon
16 July 2011
  • Summary: The drive is ok. Read speeds are very fast (for a USB2 drive). And it has a LED that flashes when there is an I/O activity. However the write speeds are awfuly slow. I own more than 5 USB flash drives and I think this one has the slowest write speed among the all (compared to Kingston Data Traveller...

Very Slow

Kevin Platt, Amazon
17 February 2011
  • Summary: Compared to other drives this is incredibly slow. I formatted the drive with NTFS as I always do and benchmarks are showing the drive is running about 35-45% slower than some of my others. I'll stick with Patriot in the future as write speed is very important for me.

Very disappointed in this drive

Brian Unfried, Amazon
12 January 2011
  • Summary: I made the mistake of buying two of these. Besides the write speed being incredibly slow, they are very fragile and both broke to pieces in my pocket and had to be glued back together.

Mine didn't last

john h., Newegg
29 July 2009
  • Pros: Love the size and capacity.
  • Cons: Unfortunately, mine only lasted 6 weeks before it died. Since there is only a 30 warranty, I guess I'm out of luck.

Sub-par product

Anonymous, Newegg
16 August 2008
  • Summary: I will never buy from Lexar again. This is the second drive I've had from them that failed in under a year
  • Pros: Good case design, USB plug stayed well protected by cap unlike a lot of flash drives out there
  • Cons: It mysteriously stopped working after 8 months: never dropped it, always took good care of it. When it was working, it had a very slow file transfer rate.

17 June 2008
  • Summary: Will never buy from Lexar again.
  • Pros: Flash drive, 1GB
  • Cons: SLOW transfer rate, took me about 8 hours to copy a 400MB file. Dropped it once and now I have to bend it while its in the USB port for it to work.

Buyer Beware: No Speed Demon

Anonymous, Newegg
19 January 2007
  • Summary: I am glad I received this as a gift. I won't feel so bad giving it away. I will be more specific in the future when I tell someone what I want as a gift. I will certainly specify a write and read speed. I understand now why Lexar website states the drive speed is UNRATED.
  • Pros: Compact size. Nice blue LED on end to show activity.
  • Cons: SLOW! Too SLOW! It took 2 hours and 11 minutes to rip a 78MB music CD to this drive. At that rate I can not guess how long it would take to write 2GB of music. Writing data files were slightly quicker but you better pack a lunch if you plan on writing a very large file. Will not facilitate file t...
