Fool me twice, shame on me

Mark M, Apple Store
2 April 2013
  • Summary: I to loved ther design of this unit, but after the second unit I purchased started to fail, I have become disenchanted with the pretty face. It mysteriously stopped working in two (not one, two) separate desktop PCs when plugged into the front USB Port at exactly the same time. Worked when I contorted and plugged it in to the rear port, but not the front. Less power in the front was the issue, according to tech support and so no warranty.

Michael G, Amazon
5 March 2013
  • Summary: Company ..excellent support!!! Product...well if you like months of work just disappearing one day go ahead. Lacie is now sending me my 4th ( yes 1,2,3,4) one as a replacement to the 3 that just suddenly fried loosing everything. There is no recovery as they don't even show up anywhere on the computer...poof! dead. I have asked the last two times that I just get a voucher for another Lacie product but was declined and they keep sending me a replacement Rugged Key..

Most expensive month of data shredding ever

Derek A. Baker, Amazon
5 March 2013
  • Summary: It's chunky, thanks to the LaCie-orange-waffle protective sleeve, but that just seemed evidence of how well protected my data would be. After two weeks, the sleeve was lost in transit (which surprised me some, because I figured it would be lost when the key was in use, since there's no good place to put the roll-around sleeve when you have it off), but the key continued to work well. I mostly just kept it plugged into my USB hub.

I would avoid, two separate drives have failed on me now...

D. Wilbur, Amazon
5 March 2013
  • Summary: I purchased this directly from Amazon and it died in less than two months. I would not mount in either a mc or PC, and was recognized as a "LaCie NAND Flash Device" in windows by the device manager. I returned it to LaCie, who sent me a refurbished one, and it failed in under an hour of use. It is not recognized by either a PC or mac at all. I have again contacted LaCie and I am waiting to here back, as their Customer Service department is rather slow.

CAUTION before purchasing

Susan F, Apple Store
13 December 2012
  • Summary: My second LaCie, including my fairly new 32GB RuggedKey stopped mounting. It started not reading regularly recently - and now it is just dead. Perhaps a waste of money.

ok hardware, useless software

Edward B, Apple Store
11 October 2012
  • Summary: A colourful 32GB USB flash drive. I bought it for two reasons, I thought I'd be less likely to loose it, due to it's bright colour, and because the box offers 32GB online backup storage. The flash key is fine, although the finish is rough n ready and looks as if it's been finished in a school metal workshop. The software I found disappointing and a waste of time, to say the least.
