Very Bulky

John S., Newegg
28 April 2010
  • Summary: I bought this thinking it would be thin like the iamakey, just this one was a slightly different shape. Wrong, this one is nearly three times thicker than the iamakey. I wish Newegg would have included a picture to convey its width, I feel a bit mislead.
  • Pros: 16 gigs. Works.
  • Cons: This drive is bulky and not well-suited to be in your pocket. This is NOT thin like the iamakey.

Questionable

Jack E., Newegg
20 April 2010
  • Pros: Sleek look, good transfer rate. Good all around.
  • Cons: Bought the drive 3 months ago, as of today, it appears to have stopped working. I was very gentle with the drive. Although I had my drive on a keyring, I made sure to take the drive off the ring before using it. I am very disappointed with all the other reviews of a sturdy, no hassle jump drive.

Not solid metal

Michael B., Newegg
17 March 2010
  • Summary: Would be very nice if it were solid metal.
  • Pros: Fast - 16 Gigs
  • Cons: Not made of hard solid metal like other LaCie key chain drives. I was very disappointed with the feel of the device. It was also large and bulky compared to the other drives that LaCie has to offer.

Great flash drive!

Anonymous, Newegg
9 March 2010
  • Summary: This is a great drive with excellent capacity and transfer speeds; once reinforced with strong glue, the housing is exceptionally durable and protects the contacts well with no cap necessary.
  • Pros: Excellent transfer speeds. The contacts are shrouded. It's metal on the outside.
  • Cons: Like others, my metal sandwich came apart after enduring only occasional neck lanyard use, but Gorilla glue solved the problem.

Keys..

Perry S., Newegg
3 March 2010
  • Summary: I didn't like how half of them came in one model and the others didn't... I also wasn't expecting the different colours
  • Pros: I ordered a bunch of these for gifts, and they all came in the mail nice and shiny. One thing I noticed for all new buyers -- is that there seems to be 2 editions of this device. 2/3 of the ones i received are black (one's in the picture) and 1/3 were silver -- exactly the same but handle part is...
  • Cons: This key is I think quite a bit bigger than all the other Lacie Keys... it's metal nice and sturdy, feels pretty light -- Con I guess is they didn't all have the same package and it wasn't quite what I thought I ordered -- but can't complain on free stuff :p

User Review

corey s., Newegg
12 January 2010
  • Summary: I purchased 30 of these so that i could put bootable linux distros on them for automated pc testing. When i couldn't get it to work i emailed lacie about it. They said "Thank you for contacting LaCie Technical Support. We have no details regarding functionality of these key as a boot device.
  • Pros: Sturdy usb key. Decent read time.
  • Cons: Could not get USB key to be bootable. Slow write speed. Hard to get into usb connections. Tight fit for such a nice looking usb key.

LaCie itasKey

Anonymous, Newegg
22 December 2009
  • Summary: As long as you don't chew on the connector end, or stuff it in a linty pocket, the connector leads are fairly well-protected.
  • Pros: Fast transfer rate. No cap to lose.
  • Cons: Metal "sandwich" cover came off after a couple of months light use on a neck lanyard. Hot glue gun to the rescue.

Not 'ReadyBoost' compatible

Paul A., Newegg
2 December 2009
  • Pros: Appears to be well made. My Windows7 system recognized it right away and I was able to use without an issue. Reasonably fast transfer rates.
  • Cons: My Windows7 system claims the device is not fast enough to use as a ReadyBoost device, but since I did not buy it for that purpose, it's no big deal. I mention this only because LaCie claims it is 'ReadyBoost' compatible.

Works Great

Anonymous, Newegg
13 August 2009
  • Summary: First of all, it's not that big, it's like having one of those heavy-duty Medeco keys; I think it'll last me awhile - I went through 2 these last 4 months b/c they could not handle a few falls, but those were plastic around the keyhole, this one isn't.
  • Pros: Keyhole; sturdy frame; cool looking; convenient;
  • Cons: Can see the grey-mesh design getting scuffs; curious to know if the entry part of the USB can survive my pocket parties;
