Handsome, tough and slow

P.K. Frary "Gochugogi", Amazon
12 October 2014
  • Summary: LaCie CooKey 8 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive is well, a cool concept: attractive, petite, sleek, tough and looks like a stainless steel key. If you carry it on a keychain, secure it with a clip so you can easily remove it from the keyring for use.

Very nice concept, needs improvement!

Dakota, Amazon
19 January 2014
  • Summary: While the idea is great, the idea needs more thought. When you stick it in your USB port, the end really sticks out and can cause the key to bend and possibly damage the port. I will stick with a small USB drive with a flexible band instead!

features do not work with current software.

will, Amazon
9 January 2014
  • Summary: First off the feature that allows you to lock and unlock your computer using the CooKey does not work with the new software (mavericks) on mac. Another feature that I was looking forward to also is not present on this flash drive ( I don't know if it has to be downloaded).

Nice but

Rory Goudeau, Amazon
28 December 2013
  • Summary: Doesn't fit well into the USB port. Especially when on a key ring. The fit is not snug by any means. I use it for more of a geek piece now since I wear a lanyard everyday. Not really good at it's intended use.

Decent USB Key

Aidan, Amazon
12 December 2012
  • Summary: Decent key, price is a bit steep and I am concerned the contacts might get scratched to the point where it wont be useable anymore. I will check back in a few months once it has some more wear and tear on it.

Key bends overtime

megaman_ultimate, Amazon
22 November 2012
  • Summary: I don't really care about speed very much. I bought this to go on my key chain and use it on emergencies. One thing I noticed was that the key was bending easily. It's not build to last long.

Was nice while it lasted...

Brian C., Newegg
14 August 2012
  • Summary: I would love to get this drive again, but fear having this happen over again. If the design either had some rubber grip bits at the handling end or was a slight bit thicker and utilized a full sized USB end, then I would gladly buy another.
  • Pros: This little guy stayed on my key chain for a good half year without any issues of scratching on the gold contacts while inside my jean pockets at work. The compact size and key like shape was amazing for having it with you but not having it become annoyingly in the way like other bulky flash driv...
  • Cons: The plastic cap got lost rather fast, but that was to be expected. What really upset me is how fragile the device was, even when it was standalone on a separate little ring without any weight applied. Mine met its unfortunate end when I went to plug it into a front facing USB port on one of our l...

No OSX Lion Support

Steve Rayment "Steve", Amazon
16 March 2012
  • Summary: This would be great, if the drivers were up to date. Lion has been out quite a while and I bought this to encrypt - without the drivers, it's pretty useless to me.

Works well when attached properly

haisam hussein, Amazon
20 January 2012
  • Summary: This is my third LaCie key-style flash drive, and while I loved the first two I do not at all like this one. Data transfer is relatively quick, and I like the overall design, but good luck getting it to sit properly in the USB port.

Busted

Dave D., Newegg
22 December 2011
  • Summary: Love the convenience but needs to be rugged. I see lots of these going DOA. That ain't cool.
  • Pros: Love the design. Had it on my key ring for a year. Used it weekly for off-site backups.
  • Cons: Busted after a year. Dead, DOA. Can't reformat, nothing.
