  • Summary: This product is good overall. It uses usb 3.0 to transfer data which is quite faster compared to usb 2.0. The card reader Kingston Logo glows red when there's something inserted. I thing that I would like to see from this good product is for it to have rubber feet. Without it, the card reader is prone to slip when inserting the card into it. I used sticky tact for my quick fix.
  • Pros: Small, cable(long enough), usb 3.0, external
  • Cons: no rubber feet

Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader Review

hardwarebistro.com
16 August 2011
  • Conclusion: If large data storage transfer is required and constantly needed then getting a USB 3.0 media reader is definitely a must item provided the system is already equipped with USB 3.0 or else getting a USB 3.0 PCI card (for desktop) or USB 3.0 Express card (for notebook) is not a bad idea since these products are not expensive.
  • Pros: + USB 3.0 technology, + Multiple flash memory cards are supported, + SDXC is supported, + Awesome Kingston logo to show its activities, + Slim & light weight
  • Cons: - Could be cheaper

Gread reader, but needs a Windows machine to update it for 10.9 Mavericks

Matt, Amazon
14 January 2014
  • Summary: I only use this for CF cards, and its worked fine for the year I have used it. When I got a Mac it kept disconnecting and reconnecting the card. I thought it was broken but it turns out it needs new firmware (who knew?) to work with 10.9 Mavericks. Luckily I had access to Windows, but it would have been better if the fix ran on the Mac side as well.
