A-DATA S701 & SDHC Eee PC Editions

3 May 2008
  • Excerpt: A-DATA's S701 & SDHC card Eee PC Edition are themed flash storage parts which go especially nice with the ASUS Eee PC subnotebook. The SDHC card is a Class 6 Device which means it can offer write speeds up to 6 MB/s. Both come at no price premium over the non-EeePC branded variants.
  • Pros: Very good read performance, Small & light weight, Solid construction, Retractable USB connector, Color to match Eee PC, Eee PC themed strap, Priced the same as the normal S701 series, Good read performance, considering the medium, Fits perfectly into the Eee PC, Large capacities available, No dongle - simply insert it and leave it there
  • Cons: Write performance quite slow for use as a secondary hard drive, USB connector does not hold well when plugged in, Does not come formatted with NTFS out of the box, Not available in every Eee PC color, Internal SDHC card reader of the Eee PC kills write performance, Does not come formatted with NTFS out of the box, Not available in every Eee PC color

A-DATA Sport S701 2 GB USB Flash Drive

20 February 2008
  • Summary: The A-DATA Sport Series S701 continues the companies commitment to offer out of the ordinary designs for specific uses. The S701 may not be water proof, but should be right at home on your key chain. The metal frame and rubberized surface should keep the inner parts safe from bumps, drops and sharp objects. The flash drive is also available in three colors, so girls can go for red - if they like - or choose black or blue instead.
  • Pros: Small, Very light, Supports Vista ReadyBoost, Metal & rubberized casing, Perfect for your key chain, Good read performance for such a size, Lifetime warranty, Available in three colors
  • Cons: Write performance is a bit slow, The USB connector mechanism feels a bit fragile, No activity indicator LED
