ADATA 64G AN005P-CGY

Nathan V., Newegg
7 February 2014
  • Pros: Fast, as per published specifications
  • Cons: Huge size. Never have seen a larger usb flash drive. Cap is not secure. I lost it in my pocket a number of times.

Good drive, not great.

Alan S., Newegg
6 January 2013
  • Summary: If you don't care about or need the cap to work this is the drive for you, otherwise I would look for a manufacturer that makes the caps on their thumb drives out of the same material as the body of the drive, or at least designs it so that the cap doesn't fall off at the slightest touch/movement.
  • Pros: The drive has a really nice casing, the brushed aluminum feels good and has held up well to the abuse I put it through. Having one side of the drive curved allows me to plug it in without fumbling too. Read/write speeds are good and the capacity is spot on. I used this to replace a 100Gb external...
  • Cons: The cap - The only con I can find, and undoubtedly the most annoying one, I'm not sure what the hell Adata was thinking, making a solid brushed aluminum thumb drive and giving it the flimsiest cap I have ever seen. I can just give it the lightest tap and the cap pops off, it won't stay on when it...

Great bang for it's buck.

Timothy P., Newegg
19 December 2012
  • Pros: Speed transfer is relatively fast
  • Cons: Although this isn't a deal breaker, the cap does NOT stay on for anything. You may as well ship this thing without a cap on it.

Not so fast

Gary B., Newegg
16 December 2012
  • Summary: It still works for storing and playing movies in my Blu Ray player. ADATA need to have some quality control so a simple cap will stay on the device. This actually comes off with a snap and will fly.
  • Pros: It's 64GB
  • Cons: Very large body, cap flies off as others found, read/write is no where near what is advertised. With HD Tune I only got 33.9 to 35.2 MB/sec in a USB 3.0 port formatted NTFS and FAT32. It is slower than ADATA's S102 USB2.0 units.

Very Poor Casing

Anonymous, Newegg
30 August 2012
  • Summary: To sum it up, I'd buy a ton of these if they'd change its casing.
  • Pros: Read about this flash drive series on Guru of 3D, and I have to say all its hype is very warranted, it's a quality, USB 3.0 flash drive. Speed wise, I can't say much as I was using it with USB 2.0 devices, but from the benchmarks I've seen though I'd say it should meet your needs. Overall I was v...
  • Cons: The case, quite simply, slid right off after a month of very light, typical use. It's nothing more than a tube attached to the board by a tiny, double sided, sticker. I just reattached the case the best I could (it would still slide off easily) and the drive continued working for a few weeks. The...

A Little Disappointed

Dave G., Newegg
1 June 2012
  • Summary: I was actually quite disappointed with the Read/Write speeds of the drive. This is my third USB 3.0 thumb drive of at least 16GB or larger and the Read/Write speeds only scored a Silver Medal in this three device race. To make matters worse, the Winner of the Gold almost lapped the silver medalist..
  • Pros: 32GB is a quite a bit of storage for a thumb drive and the actual Read/Write speeds are certainly better than most.
  • Cons: Pricey, Very Pricey. Also, I don't feel as though the actual Read/Write Speeds justify such a high price.

30 August 2010
  • Summary: Tech Support in CA has forwarded this case to the Corporate on 08/30/10 - they may have some new firmware upgrade, but it is not available on the web. Will wait and see - if no resolution - return to NewEgg.
  • Pros: Works fast!
  • Cons: It shows in My Computer as a Hard Drive - not a USB Drive - not a problem unless you want to use one of the A-DATA free software like OStoGO for Win7. I t will not get recognized, niether NTFS or FAT32, on usb 2.0 or 3.0 port. No solution yet. Purchased 2 sticks - same problem with both of them. ...

Large, hot and sometimes fast

Dax J., Newegg
17 August 2010
  • Summary: it's seems to run about twice as fast when connected to a USB 3.0 port compared to when it's coming off my many usb 2.0 ports when connected to a USB 3.0 (it will burst up to 55 MB /sec, but spends most time doing a copy around 18.1 MB/sec) No bench marking software just my normal copy to / from of...
  • Pros: As expected, It works when connected to my USB 2.0 head unit, an alpine iDA-X305 (formatted FAT32) to serve up mp3 / m4a files just fine
  • Cons: It gets VERY hot, and it's physical bigger (longer) then any other USB keys that I have.
