Summary: Well, had not problems instaling this card, ran at very high speeds through the network. I only got it because of the speed it would reach on the network, because i use a network PC for all of my film production storage. XP 32bit. However, i have installed Vista Business 32bit, and i have found that it does not work with networking on vista, though it shows up in device manager in 1394 tab. All drivers good, but yet no intention of working for networking.
Summary: I bought this card so that I could network a server (place of card) at fast speeds using a 6 to 6 pin. Worked incredibly well with XP, doing stuff that Ethernet 100 would be poor at, e.g., transferring large files. I then upgraded the server to windows vista business. After that, it did not appear as a network adaptor again. I found out that Microsoft has disabled all 1394 net adaptors for windows vista, server 2008.
Summary: I did have some concerns regarding this card and Vista64, however upon receipt I installed the card and it was immediately recognised by the OS and installed without any hassle whatsoever. I was up and running within 2 minutes, direct integration into Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 (I have not yet tried the included software) allowing me DV camera access and control.
Summary: Having spoken to 8 Dell 'customer service' people who didn't know what a Dell Dimension 3100c was I contcted dabs who suggested a low profile firewire card might fit as i had already tried a full size one that didn't. Fitted perfectly and is now up and running. Great product and as usual great service.
