Summary: I work from home and got tired of having to move my printer's USB cable from our home computer to my work laptop and back again. There is a mini dvd to install on both computers, which was very quick and easy. Then reboot, and viola! It works automagically. Nothing to switch. It just knows which computer is requesting the print job and sends it to the printer on its own. Love it!
Summary: I'd down rate it about a half a star, if I could because it took multiple reboots to get the automatic function to work properly, BUT it works fine with my Canon MX922 all in one for all its functions, once set up. It does, at first, indicate that the printer is not available, but by the time you can read it, the printing process has started.
Excerpt: Desktop with XP (no wireless printer) is old but wanted to keep & print from. New laptop to share printer. Called support, to be sure, before install as instructed. Person told me to download software to both from IOGEAR site would function best. This was good info. Printer functioned on first attempt from both.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast, Quality Accessories, Reliable Performance, Sleek Design
Summary: After installing software & setting up switch correcxtly it would not work. I called IOGEAR a total of 5 times. The first three techs said the switch was flawess and the problem was mine. The forth said there were some setting in the printer files on both computers that needed to be changed. After completing the changes I tryed again. The computer with Windows 7 would not release access to the printer and the XP Pro computer could not automatically gain access.
Summary: Disappointing... It never switches between machines. Stays connected to the computer that prints to it first until the computer is rebooted. To be fair, it could be the specific printer or the print drivers keeping the connection alive, but I ended up sacking it and getting an A/B switch.
Summary: Couldn't get solution at the website listed on the product sheet. Packed it up, it is collecting dust, may try to sell it at a yard sale, or eventually toss it. Had a tech friend look at it and he has the same problems trying to get it to work.
Summary: I spent three hours trying to install the software. Tried calling customer support but got no response. Finally I gave up and tossed it in the trash. The next day customer support called. I told them about my experience and they said please dont hesitate to call them the next time I purchased an Iogear product. Like that will happen.
