Summary: I purchased these to add USB ports and upgrade speed on two Windows XP computers. Installation required no more effort than inserting the boards and turning on the computer. All is well with their operation.
Excerpt: I didn't realize that B&H sold computer parts as I had only used them for camera gear. After ordering from another big online electronics store and being told a week later that the product was unavailable, I went looking for someone else that sold the part I needed. The shipping was prompt and efficient and the product was exactly as described. As a matter of fact, the product ordered from B & H arrived the same day my original order had promised delivery.
Summary: I installed the card in my computer and it works like it should. The only issue was it did require installation of the included driver, so it was not just PnP. Had the card in about three weeks and have not had any issues and the devices connected to it run great. This card is a great way to add additional USB ports to a computer as long as you have an available PCI slot becasue sometimes a multiport hub does not always work correctly with some devices.
Excerpt: I installed this PCI card on a Mac MDD running 10.5.8. At first, I was using it primarily for flash drives and peripherals: a scanner and printer. However, when I more recently have tried hooking up external hard drives, the drives will not mount, unless I unplug the printer then plug the drive into that port. So these are irritations, but I figured I would just live with it.
Excerpt: It just works. An old Gigabyte 7DX mobo (BIOS = 2001) defeated another add-in USB card w/VIA chip set, likely due to resource conflict. An economical way to add USB 2.0 and extend the usefulness of an old WinXP box.
