Summary: Bought this to help remove USB clutter on the back of my mac for a music studio. With mics that require power such as an Apogee or Blue Spark Digital USB. The 7 port hub allows me to get all the connections off the back of the computer and under neath the desk where the other Music Interface equipment is. the 2 powered ports are great! I originally ordered the Grey one (as they come in 2 colors) but i received the black one. The Grey one has the LED lights for each port.
Summary: This compact hub works well. The LED indicator for powered state is nice. I really like the form factor. The only issue is the fast charging ports do not work when a PC is connected. This was a major selling point for me since I have to charge a lot of devices. As soon as a PC is connected, the charge current is limited to the standard rate, which defeats the purpose. Minus 1 star. Otherwise, a good product at a good price.
Pros: Small form factor, lots of ports, powered option with LED indicator, fast charging ports, nice finish
Cons: Fast charge ports do not work with PC on/connected
Summary: Needed a powered USB hub for my Raspberry Pi, and this works wonders. I use it for a wireless dongle, two XBox 360 controllers and a keyboard, and everything works fantastic. With all those peripherals plugged in, though, it tends to "capsize", because of all the weight in the front. I can't get it to lay flat on my desk.
Pros: Lots of ports, powered
Cons: Very light, it can't lay flat with items plugged in
Excerpt: Ports randomly don't recognize USB sources. Tried to use this for digital media management for a film festival, which involves using LOTS of hard drives at once, and it was so unreliable that I could not use it. Sometimes it wouldn't work if two sources were plugged in to adjacent ports, sometimes that didn't matter. It might recognize a drive, then not recognize the same drive in the same port a minute later. I would recommend looking for a different USB hub.
Pros: Work well with Asic miner (yeah i know thats what you want to hear)
Cons: Powersupply is only providing for solid 5 devices (also in the cons) (5*500ma = 2.5A, altho its a 3amp power supply on 5/5 oof these the last device was always going on error so i guess it is not a solid 3A)
Excerpt: An interesting approach- this unit provides charging power to only 2 of its 7 USB2 ports. I appreciate the conservative approach this embodies, and hope it will live longer than it predecessors.
