    My computer was built about the time Windows XP was released and didn't have very many USB ports. Whenever I needed my scanner, printer, or card reader, I had to unplug something else in order to plug it in. All the intructions for my external equipment said "do not use a USB expansion hub", so it was time to add an internal USB expansion card. The mother-board had several empty PCI slots, but none of the newer type expansion slots. Read more

    Purchased this after two failed attempts at adding USB 2.0 to my ageing Compaq Evo D300. First of all tried an ALI card (not purchased from Ebuyer) which never worked properly. Recently ordered (from Ebuyer) a cheap Newlink (VIA chipset) card which did not work properly; would not recognise my devices or would cause pc to lock up (In the process of returning this for a refund hopefully).     If your kids are of a certain age (teenagers) and are fighting to use the family pc, this won't help you! However, if they are arguing over peripheral space, (bits where you connect digital cameras etc to the pc), this will help. Our pc simply ran out of spare usb 2 ports. We had, amongst other things, 2 digital cameras. Unfortunately, many peripheral devices have usb cables where the connections to the peripheral device are different. Read more
