OK

Christopher D., Newegg
30 March 2009
  • Summary: First one arrived DOA, but second one works great.
  • Pros: Desk mount hides power & input cable, top mount ports are easy to access.
  • Cons: Requires 3" hole in your desk. Right angle power supply and USB cable ends can make routing through wire management difficult

BELKIN F5U201-KIT Front-Access In-Desk USB Hub - Retail

Brant F., Newegg
17 February 2009
  • Pros: Allow you to turn a grommet hole in a desk for computer cables in to nice looking usb hub. My grommet holes where slightly smaller than the piece supplied, but just took the actual hub and stuck it down in grommet ring in the desk. A slight clearence fit, but it looks like it was made for it.
  • Cons: My desk had slightly smaller grommet holes.

Bad unit?

Anonymous, Newegg
15 December 2008
  • Summary: I'll be return this unit for a replacement. I really want it to work but it's completely useless right now. I'll post another review on the replacement to see if this is a problem with all products. My motherboard is a DFI LanParty UD with Opterons. USB settings were all default.
  • Pros: Concept is great for organization of your desk - if the unit worked
  • Cons: This hub is not working correctly with my USB IBM keyboard and Microsoft mouse. I'm a savvy computer guy that builds all of my computers. I've always had issues with cheap powered USB hubs but thought that this time it would be different because this hub was more expensive and by a name brand. No...

Awesome

James C., Newegg
30 October 2008
  • Summary: This came with my desk, was original meant to be put inside of a round pre-cut hole in a side shelf. I tool off the two side shelves and cut a hole right in the top of my desk, and put it in there. It has been SO handy to have it there, and it never has problems.
  • Pros: Works flawlessly, externally powered, easy access, doesn't slide around (obviously).
  • Cons: You need to have a router or round drill saw to cut a hole in your desk. Makes a permanent mark! Very annoying blue LED; I put a small piece of electrical tape over it.

Nice non-intrusive desktop install

Charles C., Newegg
13 May 2008
  • Summary: This certainly allows for a very clean install. I'd rather have the option for a 5th USB2 port in place of that mildly annoying blue LED. Great product non-the-less.
  • Pros: This allows for a very nice and clean install. It's a 4-port powered USB2.0 hub. It gives 4 ports at the top, and the power & USB2 feed is at the bottom.
  • Cons: There is a blue LED at the top of the unit that is quite brite.
