USB still not great for video capture
18 October 2007
Summary: It's ok, offers alot of capture options. Whatever codecs you have installed on your computer you can capture to. For just watching TV it is fine... but the captures are not up to par. Drops frames on anything higher than 320x240 resolution. I would get a PCI version instead for capture.
Summary: I've had this tuner for two years and find that it generally functions well, good quality tv, recording etc. However, when I originally installed the driver I got a message from Windows saying that this driver was not yet approved by Microsoft. The instalation manual mentions that this will happen and says to ignore the message as the driver actually works well with XP and will soon get approval. Unfortunately I find this not to be true.
Summary: I loved this thing for months, it worked great. Then one day no sound, so I figure I will reinstall the drivers and kuput, I can no longer install the drivers cause everytime I get file not found, I follow up with their tech support and get crazy hoople head emails like turn the power on and unmute computer sound. Its sad cause this is a very nice device. I am about ready to give up on watch tv on my pc as I have had nothing but negative experiences with it.
