A Mixed Bag for Me

Nicholas W., Newegg
24 October 2007
  • Summary: 4 out of 5 only because of the lack for 64bit suppot. x64 drivers in general are hard to come by for capture/tuner cards if my experience with it is any indication. The included software does work with XPx64 without any errors.
  • Pros: Overall I am pleased with this card. The card it self is a good card for the price and the software included is usable and works. I purchased an openbox version. The included ULEAD 8.0 is not to shabby. Captures video with Divx encoding and keeps the video and audio in sync. I had problems with t...
  • Cons: x64 drivers are a no show. XP or Vista. I had to do some searching for something that would work. I came across drivers for their TV2000 product that is for X64. These drives work with this card but has to be manually installed via device manager. I'm not sure the tuner part is functional though ...

Tolerable, but not good.

Peter K., Newegg
3 October 2007
  • Summary: My 10 year old no-brand TV produces a better image. I was hoping this would be a replacement for my TV, but I guess not. Will be returning card as soon as I can.
  • Pros: Includes good manuals for software setup.
  • Cons: Picture quality is OK... definitely can't use it in full screen. Remote control program crashes at boot and I can't get it to work even manually launching the program. Leadtek doesn't appear to have any updates on their site either.

  • Summary: Hopefully they'll fix the interference that the remote causes, but in my opinion its microsoft's problem; improve image quality. From 1 to 10 image quality is an 8 so is not great not better than a regular TV anyway, but close.
  • Pros: Low CPU usage 6%. This card was really easy to install, but make sure to download the new drivers from the website(old dont work) the software is really good. No noise when changing channels. Remote works great.
  • Cons: Audio connection was sort of tricky had to go back to motherboard manual to find the CD input. Major problem is that the remote control is incompatible with Microsoft's wireless devices. (mouse and/or keyboard) However there's a fix to this download the old version of Winfast Wizard which is the ...

  • Summary: It was really snug getting it into my case. It took a lot of work trying get it in and I was a bit worried it wouldnt fit, but i managed to get around it and somehow work it in. Software installed easy, no problems yet.
  • Pros: Works great for my needs. I'm a college student living in the dorms, so space is always an issue. Plus the PVR feature is nice for shows I may miss due to studies and/or classes.
  • Cons: Medium picture quality, its not horrible by any means, but it's not the best quality either.

no vista 64bit

Stanley J., Newegg
30 July 2007
  • Summary: I have the TV tuner XP and love the darn thing but when I went with 64bit vista I'm out of luck. For 64bit Vista I suggest the ATI 650 or AverMedia Media Center upgrade kit.
  • Pros: I don't have this card but another version of it. Please note that others are saying it works with Vista but it only works properly with 32bit Vista.
  • Cons: Click the manufacturer link at lower left of neweggs ad to see what works with 32 and 64bit Vista and what doesn't.

Excellent in Vista too

Josh B., Newegg
10 June 2007
  • Summary: Can't seem to get the remote to work, but I haven't put much effort into finding out why yet. I have no need for it so, no big deal.
  • Pros: This tv tuner card worked great in XP as well as in Vista. Picked up my cable channels great with no problems. No issues if you know what you are doing. Actually works better in Vista than XP after it was installed.
  • Cons: In order to get this to work in Vista, you have to know what you are doing. Vista will only install some of the drivers needed to make this work. You must download the rest from the website and install them manually from device manager. That's why I rated it at a 4. Also the drivers are not signe...

Mr. H., Newegg

  • Summary: Haven't tried the recorder yet, but, I'm sure that it works fine. For the money, you really can't get much better. Sure, it's not digital tv, but, still an excellent buy! Would definately buy again!! FedEx delivered a day early! As always Newegg and FedEx rock!!
  • Pros: Loaded with features, numerous extras, good bang for the buck!! Just recieved this card yesterday, Software install went flawless, (I have XP Pro) Was up and watching TV in less than ten minutes!! Everything works well, the remote is a nice feature and has numerous options. Even the FM comes in v...
  • Cons: None really, except that the picture is a little grainy when viewed in full screen mode.

PVR2000

david m., Newegg
6 February 2007
  • Summary: The drivers and pvr software have all had major (free) upgrades from leadtek's site, but keep the install disk for the video codec’s. Also the audio and record functions did not work at first, updating my audio drives from dell corrected my the problem.
  • Pros: I have had this card for over two years, it is the best for video quality, sys resources, and recording. The card can dub from any source.
  • Cons: I never use the FM, but the reception is so-so. The card is not as widely supported for 3rd party apps. And as previously stated the support sucks.
