Works great on my HP Desktop PC!

George Roberts "AddingAccessory", Amazon

  • Summary: The card slid right into my HP Pavilion a1523w-b Desktop PC. The setup was flawless. I am using an HP Media Center Remote Control for Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition 2005. The picture quality is satisfactory. I can watch TV and surf the internet without any glitches.

GREAT for Linux

Jason A., Newegg
17 July 2008
  • Pros: This works wonderfully on my older Linux box (OpenSuSE 10.1, kernel 2.6.16.27) with MythTV. Great picture, good tuner, fast response. The hardware encoder means you can just cat the device to mplayer to check output. Remote control works wonderfully too with lirc (lirc_i2c) and irexec.
  • Cons: When I bought mine they were out of stock and sent me a newer (non-Linux-compatible) model in the box with a little note. I called Hauppauge and they sent me a new one 2nd day air.

Works as Advertised

Joseph R., Newegg
23 June 2008
  • Summary: a single encoder is great until you want to record a show and watch a show at the same time, consider putting two of these in a machine (especially if its a home pvr) or invest in the pvr-500 which has dual tuners on board
  • Pros: card has on board encoding which decreases load on cpu, excellent linux support through ivtv project and remote by the lirc project, easy to install and even easier to use
  • Cons: none

Just what I wanted!

Herbert J., Newegg
29 March 2008
  • Summary: If you're searching for an excellent TV tuner card, this one should be high on your list. I couldn't have made a better choice.
  • Pros: What a great TV tuner card!! WinXP installation went smoothly and the card works even better than I hoped it would. Video quality is awesome! Audio is superb! I expected the audio to require a cable hooked up to the sound card but none was required; the 150 communicates directly with the sound ca...
  • Cons: None. I bought the card for one primary purpose--to watch TV on my computer, which it accomplishes in an outstanding manner. The record function exceeds my expectations and the rest of the software is OK.

Wonderful product!

John K., Newegg
22 March 2008
  • Summary: The scheduler software is a little rudimentary but it works well. The TV pause feature is great. If they could just recognize and remove the commercials it would be a perfect product :) I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of this product.
  • Pros: As a Personal Video Recorder this works great. I've had it for several years and have probably captured a 1000 hours of off-air/cable/satellite video and converted 100s of old family VCRs. I've downloaded their software updates and replacements for included third party software (nanoMpeg) several...
  • Cons: It is sensitive to high disk/cpu activity. Have had it lock up when anti-virus scans are running or when some software (McAfee) independently downloads updates. But I'm more inclined to blame these insensitive vendors for taking over my PC when I'm trying to capture the World Cup than Hauppauge w...

  • Pros: This is a GREAT TV tuner, anyone who gives it a bad review either has no idea what they are doing or does not have a good enough computer. It does Everything it is supposed to and on my 20" LCD the picture comes accross crystal clear, even with recorded programs. It works so good i'm even thinkin...
