Compact, do exectly what it supposed to everywhere
11 July 2010
Summary: I had it for about a year now and I like it very nuch! Its brand name, very good buold qulity and good picture quality when you set it up. I had some problems during set-up with software that came with it but after all it was worth it. Highly reccomended unit.
Pros: Compact, good build quality, mobile, good picture quality
Summary: Works seamlessly with Windows 7 Media Center. After reading many bad reviews, decided not to even bother with the included WinTV software. Instead, downloaded the Windows Media Center Install from the Hauppauge web site. After a rather lengthy installation process, everything works great.
Summary: If you love your computer and you love TV this is the product for you. Happauge has the only TV tuner that is easy to install and wonderful to watch. It's much cheaper than buying a TV just for your computer room. I am 75 year old who installed it herself with no problems at all. The best on the market. Just make sure you are getting the right model for the WINDOWS version you are using.
Summary: I purchased the Hauppauge 1200 WinTV HVR-850 Tuner stick primarily because I wanted to convert old VHS home videos to digital and archive on DVD. I have been immensely pleased with its performance. I have also used it to record cable tv shows on my home computer as a poor-man's TiVo. It also works great for this task although you don't get really high resolution video from the replayed video. It is acceptible.
Summary: It takes a little bit of time to scan all channels, but after that it works fine. The reason why I don't like it is because when I recorded some tv shows those doesn't look in HD. It's quality is poor. I try to fix the colors and everything in the set up menu, but still does not work. Watching tv or direcTV was fine, but I got this because I wanted to record the World Cup games.
Summary: I had purchased this product thinking i was going to be able to use it inside of Windows Media Center and boy was I wrong! I've had nothing but problems using this USB device from Hauppauge. I was trying to setup this device to use as a DVR but it kept giving errors and the signal would cut off every 5 min into viewing the channel or recording. I have used this device on different computers, different versions of Windows and nothing worked! What a waste of money.
Summary: I've only had this hooked up for about 10 days, but so far, it's working fine. I'm using it on a Dell Inspiron 1501 notebook computer running Windows 7, and it's hooked up to Comcast analog cable. I've watched programs in the live TV mode, recorded programs, and watched recorded programs. Yes, the picture is a bit grainy on some channels (seems to get worse as the channel numbers go up), but I find it acceptable for shows I just want to watch once.
Summary: After Los Angeles was hit by riots, brush fires and floods in a short period of time I realized I needed a way to know what was going on at work. So I bought a Hauppauge PCI television tuner. The picture was grainy and it couldn't be moved between computers easily (being a PCI card) but it did the job.
