Software Glitches at Times, Otherwise Solid

Eric Jones "Tech Guru", Amazon
8 May 2014
  • Summary: The software lacks a few things I wish it had, and there were a couple of times when the tuner cut out for no reason and I had to restart the program, otherwise the tuner works great!

Bad news retailers

rodney o davidson, Amazon
7 May 2014
  • Summary: If you truly promoted your merchandise as to what it can and can not do you might make more money. This device requires some quality graphics capability. I am asking to return it and will find other solutions to watching TV.

The Stress is Gone

TP Reitzel, Amazon
21 March 2014
  • Summary: I already own TWO different USB ATSC tuners. One manufacturer originally supported one of those tuners for GNU/Linux, but stopped supporting it after one year. The other tuner was developed for Microsoft's Windows, but a beta driver for the tuner was developed by a third party for GNU/Linux which still hasn't been included in the kernel at this point in time.

Works with Linux

Larry Vineski, Amazon
21 March 2014
  • Summary: I'm running Debian linux, just plugged it in and it worked. I opened Kaffeine media player and it scanned for channels, downloaded a program guide without any special configuration. I can receive 19 channels up to 50 miles away using an outdoor antenna I bought for my vhf scanner.

Better TV reception than my TV with the same antenna!

Davis, Amazon
21 March 2014
  • Summary: Make sure you follow the instructions in installation; the software MUST be installed before you plug the device in, and it will not light up unless it is being actively used! Other than that, this has worked perfectly since installed, got us through recording almost all of the olympics without a single glitch. When we ran the channel search (using a powered HD internal antenna), we found more channels using this than when we had it plugged directly into our TV.

no driver cd

htpc builder, Amazon
15 March 2014
  • Summary: TV tuner looks like it will work but didn't come with the CD to install it. Useless without it since you have to "buy" a CD from hauppauge if you don't already own one.

Works great with Ubuntu / MythTV, once you get through the setup process

Dane Powell, Amazon
3 March 2014
  • Summary: I am using this with an Ubuntu 13.10 / MythTV / XBMC media center, and it works great. My only complaint is that the setup process was horribly painful. I'm not sure if it's a problem with the tuner or with MythTV, but basically, scanning for channels in MythTV rarely detects any stations. You have to manually enter the transport frequencies of every station, and scan for them one-by-one.

Works Well So Far

Bert, Amazon
17 February 2014
  • Summary: I installed the device. Not too difficult. It took me quite a while to figure out how to record and play videos. Not intuitive for me. I have Windows Media Center on my laptop which is a much better system than what comes on the tuner disc. Media Center didn't recognize the tuner. It took me a couple of days and the internet to figure out how to get Windows Media Center to find the tuner. The internet instructions were slightly off. It worked with the long setup.
