• Summary: I was looking for this card anyway, and Walmart had a good price and free shipping. The only way to make the card better would be for Hauppauge to step up and make the small investment to deliver quality Linux drivers.

Works exellently in the latest Windows 7 Ultimate

ckskinner, epinions.com

 • Summary: Recommended for those who want to cut the cable cord.
 • Pros: Multiple tuners work fine circa 2013 on Win 7 Ultimate or WinTV 7.x
 • Cons: Device installation and configuration is tricky to get working right.

Excellent card with no critical flaws

VARO, B&H Photo
6 May 2013
 • Excerpt: I bought this card mainly to watch TV and record in my PC. The signal reception is very good, both digital and analog, although is rather slow to tune a channel. The bundled software works well, although Hauppauge could make some improvements. The record capabilities of this card are great, and the resulting capture are easily editable to record it in a DVD later or convert it into another format.
 • Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use

Excellent TV Tuner A++++

Duane, B&H Photo

 • Excerpt: The only reason I would give this 4 stars out of 5 is because the instructions on how to connect this to a TV are not included. The setup on the PC are pretty straight forward however, there is very little info on the output connections.

I had to purchase more connectors in order to hook the PC up to my TV but once I had all of the right cables, it looks and works great.
 • Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Good Graphics Quality

Two Tuners Necessary and this is the second HVR-2250 I have purchased.

W. Powell "consumer unchained", Amazon

 • Summary: I use an antenna in the Seattle area and I record and watch at the same time. Even without cable, there are frequently conflicts that would require me to either choose whether I want record or watch but not both. I strongly recommend two tuners to avoid the conflict problem. In general, reception on PCI TV tuner cards is not as good as the tuner in a TV but I am still recording without drops more TV than I can watch.

Two tuners is the way to go.

 • Excerpt: The WinTV-HVR-2250 PCI Express tuner has been great. I had little difficulty installing it in my Windows7 PC. Being able to watch on channel and record on another is great (for that matter, record two chanels at once.) The remote could have a few more features for Windows Media Center, but that so far is my only complaint.
 • Pros: 2 Tuners, Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Good Graphics Quality, Reliable Performance
 • Cons: Simplified Remote

Slow Boot but Works Great

LW, Amazon
27 June 2012
 • Summary: Bought two of these and they work beautifully, great picture, even on analog. (yes, our cable company still provides analog.) Windows media center shows 4 ClearQam tuners and 4 analog tuners, perfect. The big problem I have with this card is that the drivers add about 20 seconds to start Windows. Would I buy them again? Absolutely. If it wasn't for the added boot time these would get 5 stars.

Works as advertized

 • Excerpt: I am using this card on my HTPC. Installation was easy, set up went just fine. The card was recognized immediately by Win 7. Ran the setup CD and installed the drivers and WinTV. Everything worked just fine and I am running both Windows Media Center and the WinTV. I am using cable clear QAM and the receiver found all the analog and digital channels. Doesn't display in 1080p but still the HD picture is good. The remote controller is OK.
 • Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use

Love this card!

 • Excerpt: Built my own HTPC and used this card. I'm dumping pay tv and using a digital antenna because I only watch mostly local channels and the main ones broadcast in HD so the shows I watch are just as good and the pay services.
I can record two shows at the same time so I don't miss any shows and the remote works good except no way to use it for turning my TV on/off.
 • Pros: Easy To Install, Easy To Use, Good Graphics Quality, Record two shows at once, Reliable Performance
 • Cons: Wintv hangs
