Summary: It's great i use it a lot to capture my epic moments of gaming.I give it 4 stars because it has some flaws and I learned the hard way, first thing is to have at least an HD tv, and a storage device like a flash drive or a hard drive (I currently use an 8 gb flash drive and it works fine but you'll need to tweak with the video and picture options.
Summary: I wanted something to take my ps3 gameplay and record it in HD cheaper than the Elgato and others run. I'm a YouTuber you see, but a very small one. Almost unnoticed even. You can see where I didn't want to make a 180$ investment on something that may never take off. Anyway, I was on the verge of returning it when the thing wouldn't record my games in anything but a 4:3 ratio, 480p definition recording.
Summary: If you intend on saving/uploading videos to your computer, starting your own Review or Let's Play Channel on youtube, please understand that this device only work with Component Video capable Console. Component Compatible Consoles: PS2, PS3, Game Cube (requires extremely expensive cable, consider playing on your Wii), Wii, Wii U, Xbox, Xbox 360 Dreamcast (requires some expensive cable/adapter) Note to people who want to record video from older devices/consoles: Component...
Summary: I brought this for my son's birthday. He was excited to record video from his XBOX game play. We received it, unpackaged it and plugged it in. Real easy! Got the recording going with great results. BUT..... BUT through all the reviews that I read, no one talked about the INABILITY TO RECORD AUDIO FROM A HEADSET. My son wanted to talk through the video using his headset. This would bring personality and style to the gameplay. Afterall, who wants to watch just gameplay.
Summary: A little annoyed that I misread the product info and thought that it had a built in HDD but that was my fault not the product's. Captures gameplay just fine, noticeable slowdown while playing on its normal mode, switching it to its other mode fixes this but you lose access to most of its functions while in this mode.
Summary: I purchased this TODAY: March 1st, 2013 (for my PS3). Here I want to touch on the fact that a LOT of the things that people who bought this thing in 2011 were fixed with a number of firmware updates during 2012... including one just before New Years. It no longer records an avi file at all... it records a regular mp4 that you can upload straight to Youtube.
Summary: As of this review, the latest firmware available for this product is 1.7.2 - It came with 1.5.0 installed. A lot of the information you find about this product relates to the older drivers as 1.7.2 was released only about a month before this review, if that. Anyway, here's my review and please read the "cons" section to save yourself some frustration...
