There are two essential problems with this turntable: if you have a big vinyl collection, odds are you have a decent hi-fi system that you play it on. I've only had this thing two weeks...and it's been frustrating. Whoever designed the software should be fired for incompetence. Why would you design a product that records vinyl to hard drive without giving one the ability to listen while recording? A Sony 'help' person told me it wasn't designed to do that! So, you have to guess when to flip over the record or pause between tracks or only record certain tracks. And you have to pause between tracks because the software... Read more
The default setings for USB use will kill the PC speakers as soon as the device is plugged in. Not the best choice for a default setting. The software that comes with it looks like it should automatically divide for songs. That did not work for me. I will experiment to see if I can get it to work. Typical Sony quality abounds in this unit. Ease of USB hookup made it a no-brainer to install. It did a marvelous job of converting my vinyl albums to .wav files. Except for the quick transfer from album to wave files via the software, I would not give the software high marks, as it is not easy to navigate. There are better freeware programs for editing the finished conversions. The hardware gets my highest marks, but the software gets only below average marks. Read more or see product
I am happy with the turntable. I know that for the price I paid I wouldn't get super quality but it is pretty good and it does what I want it to do. I didn't know that when playing my records the sound would only come through one speaker and a heads up about that would have been nice. Playing back the recording is in stereo. Also, it would be nice if the recording software that comes with it was cross-platform. [...] Read more
