Excerpt: First cartridge paired with my Technics 1210MK2. Your mileage and audio setup may vary, but I found the original stylus somewhat tinny sounding and a bit lacking in the low end. I recommend getting the Jico SAS diamond N97xE replacement stylus for this cartridge. It is kinda pricey at $ , but it is Japanese made and extremely high quality. Overall, the Shure M97XE cartridge DELIVERS. Great cartridge for the price and definitely recommended.
Excerpt: I'm a casual listener, with a thrift system that over the years has grown into a pretty nice kit. Currently I have M97XEs on a Pioneer PL-518 and a Sony PS-X7. Both sound great. I like this cart because of the reasonable prices replacement styli, and the brush is great since it makes it compatible with just about anything. And, of course, it sounds great.
Excerpt: The M97XE was used to replace the old cartidge on a home turntable that we use to play our original Beatles, Miles Davis, Dione Warwick etc. vinyl albums. It may not be a top-end cartridge, but it sure sounds great.
Excerpt: This is certainly a good buy. Its good value for money, especially when its on sale. Complete kit where you can't go wrong installing it yourself. For the money you pay, the sound goes way much further than that. Recommended especially for entry level audiophiles. Your pockets doesn't have to go too deep to listen to analogue music again.
Excerpt: It's easy to provide those under the impression that digital reigns supreme with food for thought. Hook this little guy up to a decent turntable and play a clean, well recorded pressing of something they like on vinyl. A/B it with the same recording on a cd...........even with a very high end cd player. With the M97XE, the music comes alive with dynamics, presence and an articulate bass that will surprise you. No kidding.
Excerpt: I have installed it in an old Technics SL-20 turntable so I can listen to my old LP records. The sound quality is excellent when I play some classical music. It was delivered right at my door in very sturdy packaging. The instructions were simple enough to install it and adjust the tonearm. It came with a small cleaning brush. The cartrige itself has a tiny free-floating brush (it is also retractable) to sweep the groove ahead of the stylus...clever!.
Excerpt: Old turntable died, so I bought a relatively inexpensive Stanton and upgraded the cartridge to this Shure shortly thereafter. I don't use it much but do transfer vinyl to digital occasionally. After a thorough alignment, this cartridge put the OEM to bed. Clearly (...) an improvement, and the price was right. I'm happy with this product.
Excerpt: I used this Shure M97XE in comparison with 4-5 times more expensive MC cartridges and the performance is at par. It even had stronger points in the areas of dynamics and attack. Truly a no brainer.
Excerpt: Here is a good quality cartridge for a reasonable price. Shure u can spend more, but unless you're a dedicated audiophile, don't do it. The M97XE delivers smooth detailed sound with strong mid-range performance and it won't flatten your wallet in the process. Recommended for people that want a solid performer, that outperforms the price.
