  • Summary: This review pertains to the Debut Carbon Esprit SB only! (model year 2013). I was looking for a easy-to-use, easy-to-set turntable for a second room system- outside of my main listening room -which also has a TT setup consisting of a VPI mark III, Origin tonearm, VPI quartz power generator, and high-end moving coil from ZYX , all played through a Musical Surrounding Nova II phono stage.

  • Summary: This review pertains to the Debut Carbon DC Esprit only! (model year 2014!). I was looking for a easy-to-use turntable for my second system, for outside the main listening room, which has a VPI mark III, with Origin tonearm, VPI quartz power generator, and high-end moving coil from ZYX , played through a Musical Surrounding Nova II. I have not decided yet on a inexpensive phono amp for my NAD T748 AV receiver (very fine sounding for an AV amp, and highly recommended!

You can't beat performance at this price

  • Summary: Upgraded from a low end Sony player and was looking for something that would bring out the best sound from my growing vinyl collection without breaking the bank. The Debut Carbon is exactly what I was looking for. You could easily pay a grand or two more and still not find better sound. Records that had excessive pop and hiss on my old player sound way better/cleaner.
  • Pros: Great sound Awesome build quality Great price
  • Cons: A little extra work to switch between 33 1/3 and 45rpm (but it's a minor quibble)

  • Summary: Wanted to get back into vinyl recordings , but not so sure I wanted to spend a thousand or more on a turntable . This fit the bill just right . Great sound at a reasonable price . Don't understand other reviews of difficult set up . Just read the directions and was up and running under a half hour . Easy to see why this product is so popular and hard to keep in stock !
  • Pros: Great sound . I found set up to be easy
  • Cons: None to speak of at this time

  • Summary: I bought this turntable to replace an old JVC unit. This turntable is leaps and bounds better than the old JVC unit.
  • Pros: Sound is fantastic, easy to set up, looks cool
  • Cons: There is a hum from the motor, but once the record starts to play, the hum becomes inaudible.

Solid performer

RDR, Crutchfield

  • Summary: Just getting back into vinyl and very impressed with the quality of a $400 turntable. I replaced a 10 year old Denon, that sounded OK, but in side by side comparisons the Pro-ject blew it away. I am very impressed with the quality of the so-called entry level turntable.
  • Pros: Good sound, nice looking and appears quality built. The cartridge is such an improvement over my last turntable it is like night and day.
  • Cons: Small amount of hum from the motor, but not noticeable when the music starts.

Pro ject debut carbon

  • Summary: Upgraded from a cheap USB model to the project. What a difference. Normal vinyl hiss is pushed far into the background. The sound from this table is full, with deep lows and crisp highs. The new model has better motor isolation than the previous, and hum is non evident. Sounds amazing with my denon pre amp and power amp through the polk monitor 70s. Loving every minute.
  • Pros: Great stock cartridge , great sound
  • Cons: Stock cables are cheap, and fit extremely loose.

  • Summary: I consider myself an amatuer when it comes to vinyl. I wanted a good entry level player and this has been excellent. The instructions were extremely easy and set-up was a breeze. Great product and I am extremely happy thus far.
