Pro-Ject Debut Carbon, good but not great

colinx1, Crutchfield

 • Summary: Overall this a good player for the money, but I have a few issues with this product that are hard to overcome.

1st and for most the ant-skating mechanism is terrible.
 • Pros: Sounds good for the money. Set-up video found on the web is helpful.
 • Cons: Anti-skating system is awful. Cheap hinges and weak design overall for the plastic cover.

Quiet, Oh so quiet!

 • Summary: I am really quite the novice. I didn't even realize that manual meant you had to manually return the arm to the rest. I thought all turntables do that automatically. Now that I know better I am very pleased with my purchase. I never knew my old record sounded so so good.

 • Summary: This review pertains to the Debut Carbon Esprit SB only! (model year 2013). I was looking for a easy-to-use, easy-to-set turntable for a second room system- outside of my main listening room -which also has a TT setup consisting of a VPI mark III, Origin tonearm, VPI quartz power generator, and...

Great Turntable

19 November 2014
 • Summary: This is a great turntable for the price. I really enjoyed using it, however I would up returning it. Not because of a glaring design flaw, or bad sound but because I wanted to go to a higher level. There are a few issues. I am not a fan of the desing of the motor mount.
 • Pros: Good sound, simple setup.
 • Cons: Perhaps a few quality control issues, as well as a peculiar motor mount.

 • Summary: Great turntable. There is some setup involved that isn't difficult, it just takes time. Audio quality is worth every dollar spent.
 • Pros: -audio quality
 • Cons: -must remove the platter and move the belt to switch between 331/3 & 45 rpm.

Solid performer

RDR, Crutchfield

 • Summary: Just getting back into vinyl and very impressed with the quality of a $400 turntable. I replaced a 10 year old Denon, that sounded OK, but in side by side comparisons the Pro-ject blew it away. I am very impressed with the quality of the so-called entry level turntable.
 • Pros: Good sound, nice looking and appears quality built. The cartridge is such an improvement over my last turntable it is like night and day.
 • Cons: Small amount of hum from the motor, but not noticeable when the music starts.

 • Summary: Took me longer then most to set up but my own stupid mistakes. But with this turntable is the best sound I heard out of my 20 yr old Sony ES system. I had a Sony PSLX250H turntable hook up for my albums which sounded good. But after playing this Pro-Ject Debut Carbon all I Can say is WOW.
 • Pros: everything about this table is great.
 • Cons: none
