Pioneer CDJ-400

The CDJ-400 is a DJ CD turntable from Pioneer Corporation released in December 14, 2007. It measures in at 8.6 x 11.7 x 4.2 inches (W x D x H) and weighs 5.9 pounds. It also has a 7 x 5 LCD dot matrix screen for displaying CD TEXT as well as MP3 ID3 tag information. The CDJ-400 can read Audio CD, CD-R/RW and MP3 CD disc types.

The Pioneer CDJ-400 model is the first one from the company to feature a USB slot for plugging in mass storage devices like hard drives, portable media players and USB flash drives. This allows the user to playback MP3s from these devices in addition to the player’s support for MP3 CDs. The USB port is located at the face of the player for easy access.

At the back of the deck is another USB port for connecting to a computer. With the USB output and the player’s PC mode, the Pioneer CDJ-400 can be used with various DJ software applications as well as act as a MIDI controller. Most of the deck’s various jogs and sliders can be configured to output MIDI data.

Apart from regular scratch effects, the CDJ-400 also has a Scratch Jog Effect feature. Using the feature, three buttons can be configured to produce unique scratch effects which can be used on-the-fly. The deck also features Pioneer’s new Loop Divide function.

The player also has an instant reverse play function as well as a resume function. With the resume function, the Pioneer CDJ-400 restarts the playback at the point where a CD was last played.
