  1. Electronics Made Easy

    Electronics Made Easy

Technology has come very far in the fields of audio and electronic devices, and the Denon DP-300F analog turntable is no exception to that evolution. The simple interface, easy-to-replace cartridge, and improved tonearm are the strongest elements of this model. And when compared to more expensive turntables, this one provides nearly-equivalent sound quality at a fairly decent price. Read more

  1. Run, don't walk and buy it, change cartridge and sit back!

I was skeptical about a relatively low budget turntable, with semi-automatic features but took the plunge. Immediately replaced the Denon supplied cartridge (muddy and unmusical) with an Ortofon Blue 2M and never looked back. It sounds simply wonderful. I have owned some of the best audiophile manual turntables and exotic arms in years gone so know what pristine effortlessly reproduced sound can be. Read more or see product

  2. LP's revived!

I added an audiotechnica stylus for better sound. I would prefer plug in cables to built in but turns out LPs sound great, depending on the quality of pressing of course. At first I thought this would be too lightweight for Opera recordings, but all is well. After several years without first rate sound, I bought the 100th anniversay Denon amp and this turntable. I now hear why LPs sound better than CDs. Read more

  3. Nice Entry Level 'Table

This is a very nicely made entry level turntable. Stock, as it comes out of the box, the sound is in line with its price. However, if you change the cartridge for something better (say one of Denon's own higher end mc cartridges, Grado, Ortophon etc.) it's a big upgrade. Also, a stand alone phono preamp will sound better than the one built in. Finally, some form of isolation (cones, vibrapods, etc) will improve sound over the stock plastic feet. Read more

    • Quality tone arm, excellent specs, automatic, upgraded stylus
    • It's may be too wide for some older cabinets, critical listening only

This is more a manual type turntable, with automatic features. The arm alone is outstanding, but the low wow&flutter specs and low rumble are outstanding. The preamp is equal to what's on most receivers, but if you have a high preamp, it has a switch to turn the internal preamp off. It has magnetic anti-skate that will not change over time, and the cartridge mount is removal for easy change out. Read more

    • Finish and build quality Choice of built in preamp or not Arm design right up there with Rega's and Music Hall Automatic use or manual
    • Better quality isolation feet Either offer a higher quality cartridge or state the one you get is not equal to the turntable

I am a professional musician, I hadn't planned on actually listening to my LPs when I purchased this turntable, I only wanted a quality turntable to allow me to transfer my old LPs to disc. I still cannot believe my ears when playing my 20 year old LPs on this turntable. For small group jazz, the sound is better than the CDs I have of the same material. Read more

I traded down to this model from a higher-end Denon because my new receiver did not have a phono-in, and I didn't want to buy a phono amp or new receiver (again). I also wanted to archive some vinyl records. This turntable makes it a snap - you just need a plug that converts the RCA phono outputs from the turntable (ie: from Radio Shack for less than $5), into a 1/8" jack for the back of your PC (or whatever you have for a line-in). Read more

    • Denon quality; no need for a phono amp or phono input, meaning you can plug it directly into a computer or other device (tape deck etc) to record direct from vinyl.
    • Standard tonearm is a bit light and not adjustable, thus some imperfections on the vinyl may cause it to skip; taping a quarter to the top of the tonearm will help.
