Summary: I was looking for a Toaster made in U.S.A. and I know West-Bend had a decent reputation. I was doped by Google. They included another product made by West-Bend and it was made in the U.S.A. I gave the rating a 3 because it does not entirely meet my expectations. I spent a lot of money on shipping costs only to find the product was made in China. I could have purchased same in Canada, made in China.
Summary: Love this toaster! I like to make 'breakfast' for dinner but hate having to wait for the 'second' round of toast for my eggs. Bought the 4 slice toaster so that everyone gets at least one piece of toast and love the fact that we can have it light or dark and that the conrols are separate.
Summary: The toaster emits a terrible odor when used. It smells like an old machine shop where metal is being cut/ground. It is sickening - it permeates the house. We had to open all our windows to breathe. We returned it the next day.
Summary: When perusing toaster selections, ask yourself this very important question: "do I like toast?" If that's the question you're asking, you are looking at the wrong toaster. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a way to pad out your day and spend a few minutes longer in the break room (to avoid all of that bothersome work), then you have found yourself a very wise investment... unless you like toast (toast is pretty overrated). My office has purchased two of these.
