Summary: Was skeptical @ first (due to low price mainly) but removed it from box and plugged it in--adjusted temp/time and pushed plunger down w/out bread inside first. Watched elements heat to red to see uniformity of heat then cancelled to see if it would shut off--had heard some horror stories--but no problems were found! Dropped in an English muffin and it toasted fine but since wells are deep was a little difficult to retrieve w/out burning fingers on top of toaster!
Summary: This toaster takes a REALLLLLLLY long time to toast anything, even if you use the lowest setting. This didn't cost much so I was okay with the uneven toasting (yes, the reviews are true) and I can handle that it looks somewhat cheaply made and flimsy but I have no idea why it would take two and a half minutes to toast one waffle.
Summary: i got the toaster early in November. it worked for about a week. now to toast I have to hold the thing on the side down or the heat does not come on. comsumers report recommended a proctor silex 226o something and I could not find that number . so I got close with this number it was a couple of digits different . woe is me.
The toaster caught on fire and nearly burned house down
Technical Trader "Technical Trader", Amazon
6 November 2013
Summary: This is the WORST ITEM I'VE EVER BOUGHT ON AMAZON. I've had it a few months and...literally...it caught on fire. Not the toast, but the TOASTER. The flames were licking at my woodwork and the toaster there was a major fire in my kitchen. AVOID THIS ITEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. HORRIBLE AND TERRIBLY DANGEROUS. NO ONE SHOULD OWN THIS.
Summary: This item is crap, thus, the price. After a short time of use, the white paint (yes, paint) on the top discolors. A customer states that he or she has been using it since 1997--obviously, not interested in appearances.
