Summary: We have had this toaster for five years now and really like it. If they're still making them like they did then, you won't be disappointed. It just works. No struggling to keep the spring-loaded lever locked down, no toast jamming when it pops up. Put any kind of bread in it, even thick slices or bagels, lower the handle gently, turn it on... perfect toast every time.
Summary: This toaster is beyond bad. Out of the box one side didnt to heat up at all. Not once. The slots were not big enough for bagels (unless you are an expert and can cut them exactly equidistantly) and it does not come with a rack. In addition, the settings it advertises are not settings at all. I had a Dualit in England for 10 years so if you want that kind of professional toaster get the real deal. Or do what i am about to do a get something cheap and simple.
Summary: This 18 pound two hundred dollar toaster was such a disappointment! As soon as we took it out of the box it looked slightly dented around the rivets which had been put in too tightly. That gave it a cheap toaster look which it certainly was not. I wasn't impressed with the styling either. After using it for only a week or two we were turning it up to almost maximum toast (9) just to get the bread to a medium toast.
Summary: I ordered this toaster to go with the Pro Line coffee maker and burr coffee grinder. After reading all the reviews here and on [...], I saw the criticisms, and held my breath. I expected a good looking ensemble of appliances, but was unsure about the quality of the toaster. As I have never had a toaster that toasted well, this wasn't a deal breaker. I have been pleasantly surprised. It is very attractive and a pleasure to use.
Summary: Don't buy this toaster because it makes better toast. It doesn't. It does no worse or better than a decent $10 toaster. The earlier reviewer was right. There is no centering mechanism so regular thickness bread slices do lean in the slot and do toast unevenly and there is no bagel option... But so what? Buy this toaster because it is big, beautiful and bullet-proof. Built like a tank, it is the epitome of simplicity and "non-cheapness". It looks cool on the counter.
Summary: I was impressed by this toaster from the time I opened the box (when it didn't even want to come out of the box because it was so heavy!) I have nothing bad to say about this toaster I can tell you that! It is really unique as far as toasters go. Every other toaster I have ever owned has been a traditional one where the toast pops up when it is done. This one actually stays down until you raise it up to keep the toast warm.
Summary: This is a fantastic toaster, while I would not normally review an appliance we have been so happy with this ,it warrants comment.I start my day every day with this and expect it to last a lifetime. It is heavy duty all steel and heavy bake-lite type knobs, and it perfectly toasts bread or bagels. As well it keeps the toast warm by not popping up, does not transmit heat to the outside of the unit. We love this toaster.
Summary: I purchased my toaster and I really like the fact that it is so heavy duty, and doesn't over-heat when you need to toast multiple slices of toast. This is an extremly heavy toaster that does not seem flimsy. It is extremely stylish, and the smart design makes it easy to clean. I have found that this toaster prepares evenly toasted bread each and every time.
Summary: I bought this toaster because of the KitchenAid brand name, and because I thought any toaster gutsy enough to come with a $200 price tag might be able to toast a slice of bread in less than five minutes. Big Mistake. KitchenAid quality control must have been absent when this behemoth went down the assembly line. Even white bread set at the highest number on the temperature setting does not brown and it takes LONGER to NOT do it. Frozen waffles? Forget it.
Summary: When will I learn that not all kitchen aid appliances are made as well as their stand mixers? To say that this toaster was a disappointment would be an understatement. The toast would not brown evenly or even consistent. In a way I am almost ashamed that I spent this much money for a toaster that could not even toast a slice of bread. Save your money get yourself a Krups.
