Excerpt: The Sunbeam 4-Slice Toaster Oven 6198 is a poor product. I did not expect it to be that great when I got it, due to its low price but it was a little worse than expected. This was bought when I moved into my first dorm. We had to get rid of it due to the amount of heat it put off. This toaster oven was small enough for my tiny dorm room. Some other ones I looked at were just too bulky.
Excerpt: This is an amazing toaster oven. It heats up very quickly and has a good amount of space. I could use more room, but the size is workable. It can fit a small personal size pizza - which is great. Helps to save on energy because I'm not heating the entire oven for a quick snack. Food tastes much better coming from here than from a microwave. Fits well on a counter and it's easy to move around.
Summary: This was a gift and when i opened it thought the design was nice, but after plugging it in and waiting a few monutes with the oven on 400 I began to smell a wire burning. The outside and back of the oven got so hot it melted its own power cord which was touching the back of oven. The whole outside of this oven is so hot I cant believe they have not recalled it. Terrible around children.....DONT BUY IT.....
Excerpt: This is one of our 2nd or 3rd toaster ovens that my family has owned. It is a very simple toaster oven: separate settings for heat temperatures and for toaster. There is also a timer which ticks loudly and rings loudly once your meal is ready inside. There is only one rack. Clean up is typical for this type of toaster oven; one opens the bottom of the oven (it's pain-in-the behind to open but it's not that bad) and remove all the fine foody particles.I am not too crazy...
Excerpt: We purchased this toaster oven as an inexpensive solution to our toaster when we moved into temporary housing for 10 months. The elements are very close to the rack (as with most toaster ovens) so even the toast setting seemed to often burn the toast. We found it more useful to use for baking small dinners since there were just 2 of us in our household. I appreciated that fact that it was faster (no prewarming necessary) and used less energy than a wall oven.
Sunbeam Toaster Oven #6198 gets to hot to open the door.
9 August 2011
Excerpt: Sunbeam Toaster number 6198 gets very hot, I need a pot holder to hold the back of the oven when I open the door, and another pot holder to use on the handle when opened. The lever that holds the dripping tray gets stuck when I open the door and the baking rack comes out and slides down. This causes the items that are being baked to roll or slide off when checking for doneness or when done.
Excerpt: The Sunbeam toaster oven is a great kitchen appliance. We have had this appliance for nearly two years and have never had a problem with it. The Sunbeam toaster oven is very versatile. We mainly use it for toasting bread and reheating leftovers.I have celiac disease, which means I cannot have gluten (found primarily in wheat). Because of this food intolerance, I cannot use a regular toaster where someone else has toasted regular bread.
Excerpt: I really don't prefer this toaster oven and i have tried many. I think that if you want a cheap appliance that will last about a month then you might like this but for me, it's a no go (at least again). This is also one of the smallest toaster ovens ever so i don't know why they call it an "oven" when its only use is for toasting bread or snacks.
Sunbeam 6198 Toaster Oven - You get what you pay for
11 March 2011
Excerpt: When I first got married 25 years ago, my wife and I bought a Black and Decker Toaster Oven. 5 years ago we divorced and she got most everything we had. When I finally started to get my life back together I decided I wanted another toaster oven. I went into the store and looked around for a little bit and finally settled on this Sunbeam 6198 toaster oven. Immediately after buying it, I knew it wasn't going to be a good one but didn't really care that much then.
