  • Conclusion: My verdict is in. The M551D-A2R proves to be another fine example of why Vizio has become so popular amongst shoppers who care about both value and performance. Without a lot of tweaking, this TV's image quality is as good as, or even better than, several more expensive TVs that have crossed my path this year.

  • Summary: In a side-by-side comparison against flagship sets from Sony and Samsung, minor picture shortfalls can be seen by sharp-eyed viewers but picture quality is as good or better than most other TVs, including those that cost more. Coupled with good 3D performance and a decent Internet streaming platform, the Vizio M1D-A2R is an unbeatable value for all but the fussiest buyers.
  • Pros: Good picture quality for the price, Good features, Great bang for the buck
  • Cons: Reflective screen, Black levels are only OK

Vizio's M-Series TV is not just a pretty face

CNET
3 July 2013
  • Summary: The Vizio M-Series offers a potent combination of excellent design, decent picture quality, and a pocket-friendly price.
  • Pros: The Vizio M-Series M1d-A2R is an excellent value with great design and a snappy picture; it has excellent shadow detail, fairly deep black levels, and excellent processing; and its Smart TV access has been improved.
  • Cons: It doesn't have as deep a black level as a plasma; it suffers from a slight red push; it has a reflective screen; Yahoo apps aren't very slick; and the remote sensor isn't very responsive.
