Summary: Other reviewers are right on. We got the TV Thanksgiving of 2011 and loved it. The picture was great. Internet apps on the TV were neat but we didnt use they except Pandora. As time went on things got worse. The sound started cracking while watching TV. About 6 months after purchase when the TV was turned on the sound began to pop in and out for the first 3ish minutes.

Summary: I bought this TV last year right after Christmas. I had read the reviews at that time about the picture black out problem. It SUPPOSEDLY was being addressed through firmware updates. Well, in February I called Vizio to tell them about the ongoing picture blackout. I will say at this point that the Customer Service reps are all very well trained and polite people. And in all honesty I let this go on too long.
Excerpt: I have had this tv for 5 years and it still works well. I don't think it has amazing picture quality even though it is supposed to have HD capability, but it definately gets the job done. I honestly didn't know the difference until I watched TV at my friends house on a high quality LG tv and when I got home I felt like my tv wasn't good enough, even though it was fine before. It has stood the time and not worn out or had any patchy spots or anything like that.
Summary: I got this Tv off another site, but after reading reviews I figured I would put my 2 cents in. I got a slightly used one that looks like new for just over $700. For the price, this Tv is amazing. The picture is crystal clear and colors when adjusted to the settings of one of the below reviews suggestions is perfect. The cinemotion stuff takes some getting used to but I like it because I feel like the movie playIng becomes real life happenings.
Summary: Update Aug. 7, 2012. Returned the Sony BDP-BX57 and got a Sony BDP-BX59 Blu-ray. The new Blu-ray works with my VIZIO TV, so I'm updating the rating from 1 star to 3 stars. Still think that the VIZIO was partly to blame for the problem. ********************************************************************* My VIZIO 55" LED TV will not recognize 1080P output from my Sony Blu-ray (model BDP-BX57). It works with 480, 720 and 1080i, but get "no signal" when trying 1080P.
Summary: I absolutely love this tv it is our first large screen hd tv. We purchased it at Costco and at the time it was a very good buy.the Internet apps are wonderful and still learning how to use them we also enjoy the Netflix streaming and pandora app as well.
Summary: I love this TV. The picture is bright, vivid, and colorful. It's like looking through a picture window. Old shows and movies have a newly found clarity to them that I have never experienced before. The menus are easy to follow, and give the user a lot of functionality. All of the "smart" functions work fine, including Internet streaming. Except for the Guide button. The purpose is to display the upcoming over-the-air programs on the current channel.
