The only notable difference is in cost, which is a difference of just $100. The GV42L HDTV has a price tag of $1,699 while the L42 HDTV is worth $1,599. Another difference is that the GV42L has more sophisticated styling, detachable speakers, and an extra advanced picture control menu. The remote has also an added feature of backlight. That’s all that is different about the GV42L.
The design of Vizio GV42L HDTV is not out of the world but has been made to earn a few extra bucks for the company. As compared to its clone, the L42, the Gallevia model has a narrow stand, and the speakers are definitely more curvaceous. The logo has been given an orange glow that flashed the moment you turn on the TV and fades quickly into a dim white, which looks quite nice.
The GV42L HDTV measures about 42.3 X 29.8 X 11.4 inches (WHD) with its silver stand and weighs 73.5 pounds. The GV42L can be wall-mounted with a special kit, which is available only with Vizio. The Vizio GV42L HDTV has most of the standard features to satisfy just about anyone. There are three non-adjustable presents in the picture section of the menu and then there is a fourth custom mode, which is independent for each input. This model also has three color-temperature presets to choose from to adjust RGB. C-NET rates the Gallevia as a good HDTV except that there is not much of a difference between the L42 and the GV42L. The GV42L also has an adjustable backlight control, which allows you to change the intensity of the lamp behind the screen.
